The house and rooms give you a feeling of being in another century. All is well designed, the owner did a wonderful job to restoring the house inside and out. The house is in a village which was once frequented by many worshipers. The Dome alone is worth the visit but you can do a lot of walking and use...

We stayed here while we're having road trip to Italy, Piedmont region. The area was very quiet, you can see the Alpes from the balcony. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The prices were reasonable. The landlady was very friendly and helpful. She prepared us a very delicious breakfast. If you do not have car, it may be quiet...

It is my second time at Duchessa Margherita. I travel often to the area and I consider it the top accommodation around Mondovi. A short walk to Vicoforte sanctuary and main square. Rooms are very cozy and service is fantastic.

For us this recently built and very tastefully designed small hotel in a historical building was a rare find and exceptional value for money. The room was large, with all amenities and beautifully furnished. Breakfast buffet was very nicely served in the old-style-quality breakfast room. The attention to detail was amazing, in all and any areas of the hotel. There...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A stately home, elegant and reserved, dating back to 1850 and restored in 2010. A beauty that didn't need to be performed, but which turns gradually along the corridors, climbing the stairs, entering the atmosphere suffused. Get closer to windows and offset the curtains: you will find yourself immersed in a hilly landscape of great sweetness, from which emerge the elliptical dome, largest in the world, of the Sanctuary of Vicoforte, Abbey of Cistercian monks, the Palace surrounding the perimeter of the square.Carlo Emanuele I had married Catherine, Infanta of Spain, and had ten children. The historic residence was named after Margherita, the first of his daughters and the more faithful to Vicoforte, much to grant a substantial bequest to the Cistercian monks at the time of her death. Each room of the residence is entitled to a member of the Royal family. Enter this home is like immerse yourself in the history of the Savoy dynasty. No room is identical to the other: each is characterized by a particular plan, from the original antiques, a climate that makes it unique; each matched with wooden floors and beds with ergonomic mattresses, antique fireplace and shower or whirlpool and chromotherapy. There is a room with a balcony projected over the hills and the golden mirror, small Suite with sitting room and one that boasts the Louis XVI style dresser. And there is also, on the ground floor, one room accessible for disabled people. ... more   less
