We could not have made a better choice. From the moment we entered the Hotel we were spoiled, cosseted and made to feel as if we were a much loved, much cherished member of the family. The safety protocols that have been put in place were superb, and we felt totally safe, from the moment we entered the hotel.
Our room was a joy. The sheets were changed every day along with the towels; and there was always a bottle of cold water waiting for us, when we returned to our room after a day of sunshine. We had Room 303 with a double balcony so were able to enjoy the superb views of the beach and marvellous sunsets. The bed was really comfortable and with both balcony doors open, the room had a lovely breeze running through it. With heat cancelling electric shades; it made the room remain cool without the aid of the air-conditioner. There is a TV with a full Sky package including Films - but we never used it as we come on holiday to get away from this.
The Hotel is situated on a very busy main road; but you are only aware of this when you open the balcony door; otherwise the room is totally soundproofed except for sirens that could pass by.
Aside from the comfort and Italian elegance of the rooms, what makes this hotel really special from our point of view, is the staff. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble. We were treated superbly by everyone; and the food is just out of this world. Truly Al a Carte. Beautifully presented, freshly prepared and being served with Italian Panache by Franco and the restaurant staff was a delight. Being greeted each morning by the smiles of Daniel and Marchello, set the scene for another perfect day.
But our personal little star was Sarah. Not a day, not a meal went by, that she was not serving with grace, aplomb, and personal touches that just made our stay that little bit nicer.
We totally loved this hotel and its personnel and if it wasn't for Covid-19 we would never have had this experience. So, THANK YOU EVERYONE who made our holiday so perfect. We cannot say how much we want to come back; but this time, we will bring my Brother and his wife whom I am sure will love it as much as we did.
If I have forgotten anyone writing this report, please excuse me, but his holiday will stay in our memories for so many different reasons on so many different levels for a very long time.
Do vist and stay here if you ever get the opportunity.
At first we where afraid of travelling to the hotel, actually we were afraid of travelling to Italy due to the virus.
But my god are we happy we came over. Not many tourists are around but the hotel took measures which will blow your mind.
Breakfast à la carte, buffet with facemask and assistance of personnel, plexiglass everywhere, alcohol gel at every entrance, no airco but open windows, face masks and gloves available on request, temperature is taken of everyone going inside the hotel,...
Well there is nothing they could do more. Also the Italians thought things true. Facemasks are very common and even obliged in shops.
Everyone is respectfull which explains the descending numbers in Italy.
The staff is friendly like no other.
The food is just crazy good. People should visit the restaurant of the hotel. The food is very good, as is the wine.
We would recommend the hotel to each and everyone of you.
Dinner was typically Italian with an excellent choice for all 4 courses and the wine list had an array of good Italian wines to choose from. There was a superb atmosphere in the restaurant and the service provided by Elisa and Franco was absolutely fantastic, they couldn't do enough for us, the hotel management are very lucky to have two such dedicated, professional, friendly and helpful staff members running their restaurant, I hope the hotel management realise what an asset they have in their restaurant team.
The reception team is efficient and very friendly offering advice on local amenities and dealing with check-in/out very efficiently. Marcello was particularly helpful providing details of local beach clubs and arranging a late check out for us - he always had a cheery "Buongiorno" as we exited the lift each morning . Unfortunately, a junior male member of the reception team took it upon himself to reallocate our taxi which was due to take us to the airport, our taxi was actually prepaid and had arrived 50 minutes early but the debacle cost us 80 euro for a replacement taxi, the staff member became very aggressive when we advised our taxi was prepaid and he offered no apology. I have to say this behaviour was completely out of character with that we had experienced during our fantastic stay at the President but given the financial cost and stress caused by this one individual our memories of a great stay will be sullied for a long time - such a great shame!.
Asked for a quiet room when we booked the hotel but told as beach front hotel all noisy, we were initially placed on 1st floor above kitchen which we were not happy with, however after 5 mins a new room was found and put us further up on 4th floor which was much better…
Breakfast was amazing, continental selection buffet but also cooked breakfast on top with eggs Benedict, omelettes etc
Room itself was good however strange shower wet room which flooded a lot….
Cleaners quite loud in the mornings
The beach club subsidising was quite frustrating and although the hotel has a discounted rate with 2 clubs we chose to go to others at better rates which we thought was a bit odd.
Overall a pleasant stay
The hotel provides beach towels and also works with a local beach club across the road, ask reception for more details.
Perfectly located to make full use of the promenade of Viareggio and within easy walking distant of the train station which you can hop on a train to visit Pisa, Florence or Luca with ease.
Would happily return if we were ever to visit Viareggio again, which I am sure we will as we loved it!!
Would highly recommend this hotel.
