From the outside the hotel looks very nice - it is a big villa with a little garden in front. Our room, however, (one of the suites on the top floor) was not properly cleaned. There were hairs in the bathroom, a lot of dust everywhere and spiderwebs around the bedside tables. Although they cleaned the room again after we arrived we did not feel comfortable. They do everything very superficially: at breakfast for example they don’t even bother to wipe the tables between customers (except on our last morning when there was another waitress). The street nearby is very loud, also during the night. A positive thing about the hotel is the free parking and the location: around 5min from Varese by foot and a lot of nice restaurants nearby.
I was expecting more for the price. This is more of a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel. The rooms are much smaller than expected and the decor doesn't feel as welcoming. Kettle and cups present without any tee or coffee. Toilet is on the cheap side and does not reflect a 4 star hotel. Breakfast is very little and extra charges apply for eggs The rooms are not sound proof and you will be weaken up from other guests leaving or entering their respective rooms. Location is quite convenient, within walking distance to the city center. Free Private parking is also included Bottom line it looks nicer than the other hotels in the area but not worth the price.
We picked this hotel as my wife liked the look of the garden bar... the garden bar is only open 3 nights a week. The rest of the week this "hotel" is average at best. With very limited staff hours issues aren't resolved until the next at the earliest. We spent a couple of uncomfortable nights with no aircon as a result. In summary, it looks nice, but it's not great.
Small hotel, great located (few steps to city center), an old smart restored villa with restaurant and bar services; reading and play room; we had a room at the top floor, as written before old and new smartly renovated with modern amenities, a kettle (great!) so can have a quick coffee or tea after closed night hours. Breakfast was served in the restaurant, nice appointed everything, variety of choices, hams, cheeses, breads, hard boiled eggs, croissants in a few words basics none is missing (almost) but if wanted scramble eggs or pancakes they have an extra cost. The hotel is perfect for a short stay, found some cleaning issues (hairs in the bathroom towels and some dust under the sink) but besides that, the hotel is beautiful, the most I appreciate is the renovation and reuse of old materials (old doors often used as decorative panels) and the old chimneys which show historical splendor of this house.…
This is a gorgeous hotel well situated in the Lakes District. The hotel is super clean and the room was spacious and well appointed. Staff is friendly and the breakfast was wonderful with a wide selection of items and a beautiful setting. Day trips are easily made to Como, Bellagio, Maggiore etc. Varese itself is a nice city with an interesting old town and a modern city as well. Lots of good restaurants.
We stayed at Art Hotel Varese for one night. The hotel is very pretty, and quite reasonably priced for what they are offering: a stay in a newly renovated old building. Breakfast is not great, but the dining room has a view to the garden. Their staffs were friendly and helpful. I had an insect bite during the walk back to the hotel and had an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, swollen face, runny nose). This occurred at night when most things were already closed. The lady at the reception called a cab for us, and phoned different pharmacies around town that were still open. We got to one with an in-house doctor, got my antihistamine, and everything went well, thanks to her help. The only reason why I didn't rate it a 5 is because they forgot to empty the bathroom's trash bin. It was full of the previous guest's trash. But aside from that, it was perfect.…
The hotel is clean and nice. With beautiful garden like. Bed mattress hardness is good but internet is not so well connected in some rooms. Bathroom is large and with more than ample space. Breakfast is reasonable well.
Hotel is really nice. Large spacious rooms all different sizes and lay-out which makes it unique. Bar was closed on our arrival day so it appeared and although with a group of 12 no bottles for a drink were offered. Not really service minded. But within walking distance of Centre we found our way elsewhere. Breakfast was not extremely luxurious but with fresh rolls, cakes and a nice cappuccino it was great
Spent 2 nights. Was very hot and all guests complained the air conditioning blew only warm air. I confirm this as several colleagues showed me their units. Opening the window means mosquitos or other bugs. The front desk was incapable to address. Rooms are basic with wood floors and bathrooms also. Villa is beautiful but needs investment...lawn unkept and lawn furniture unattractive and basic. Breakfast standard 2-3 star hotel fare and dinner restaurant good and tasty. Small but quality selection of wines. Most guests were visiting local European institutions for meetings or educational programs. Would choose a more updated property next time.
