****Ignore the negative reviews, this place is amazing**** The Hotel Al Borducan is a charming guesthouse built in 1924, still run by descendants of the original owner. Ten comfortable rooms, tastefully furnished, many with very high ceilings and expansive views of the valley. Even rooms that do not face the valley have picturesque mountain and village views. The hotel is...

We arrived very early just as breakfast was being cleared and were met by the owners daughter in law. She offered us coffee and pastries and told us about the hotel and the history. We decided to leave our bags and go for a walk. We then met the charming owner who obviously loves the place and his work. He...

Should you be looking for a great views from the picturesque Italian postacards, you should come here at least once. But be ready that at entrance point the miracle will disappear: very old rooms, uncomfortable bed, poorly working shower, slow and very 'authentic' staff with zero interest in keeping the client loyalty to come back. Add no Wi-Fi in the...

A very nice hotel but definitely not for business especially if you don't have a car. Very far from everything and taxi needs 30 minutes to arrive (if they are available to come). Hotel staff were hospitable but were surprised that i wanted my breakfast at 7 am and were surprised when i asked for an ironing board!

The location is pretty unique on top of the sacred mountain of Varese. Bad side effect is that the church is very close and that the bells will wake you up at 7:30 am... The building in itself is really special and has a unique style with a great terrace and the most amazing views. The restaurant is worth the...

This is a place to feel at home away from home -- in style. The new owner, Giuliano Ferlini, was very attentive and went the extra mile to welcome our family when we dropped in for a weekend in mid-December 2014. We stayed in the suite, which is a big round airy room, with our family of four and had...

A hidden gem... Fantastic place, beautiful and simple, like only Italians manage. The rooms have fantastic views, the staff is friendly and the owner, Mister Bianchi, is a great host. It was my third time here, and hope to return many moer times!

First the location is amazing on the side of the Sacre Monte mountain in the small town of Santa Maria. Completely in the countryside but just a few kilometres from Varese town with fantastic views of the valley and plain below. The hotel is quirky and full of high class fittings and historic renovated decoration. Room 10 the twin is...

Sacro Monte di Varese is a special place, and the Borducan is a very special hotel. The views over the lakes and across the plain from up high are stunning, and the Art Nouveau architecture and interiors of this hotel remain amazing. Of course, there are easier options to get to a hotel from Malpensa airport than renting a car...

We used Hotel al Borducan as a base to explore Lake Maggiore and the surrounding area. The hotel is a charming period building that has been thoroughly restored and has many of the modern touches you'd expect. Our room was quirky and charming. We accessed our bed via a steep stairs / ladder. This was great fun and gave the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hotel-restaurant „Al Borducan“ , a vintage manor house, has been completely refurbished without disturbing the original Art Nouveau style of the 1920s.To this day each room has kept its unique charm of the former Bregonzio residence and choice pieces of vintage furniture further the congenial atmosphere of the manor house. It goes without saying, however, that modern facilities like sat-tv, telephone, safe, free of charge wireless internet access, minibar and en suite bathroom cater to the convenience of our guests. ... more   less
