My husband and I were staying in Varese and asked our hotel manager for a dinner recommendation. She sent us to this delightful restaurant which was a short walk from the hotel. What a find! The servers were prompt, friendly and efficient. The "gratis" appetizer was yummy: sausage, some kind of dumpling and a stewed tomato dish. The first course, second course, etc., dishes were delicious....pasta, polenta, risotto, wine, dessert....just fantastic. Don't miss the tiramisu dessert. Also, "gratis" was either the limoncello or grappa. They don't skimp here...they want you to be full and happy when you leave. Needless to say, we were!
The hotel is located between a busy main road and the town's historic centre. The five way intersection on which it is situated creates a lot of traffic noise but the shutters and windows do a good job of blocking it out. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean, with daily room service. There is a lift as an alternative to the steep, stone stairs. You can reach the hotel on foot from the station in about 15 minutes. The price is very reasonable.
My review relates only to the hotel's restaurant. Authentic Italian dishes brought to the table in one wave after another. The simplicity of the dishes presentation was accompanied by generous portions and wholesome taste. Everything tasted real, yummy, almost homemade. And they had the best Italian dessert...la pannacotta. On top, the bill was excellent value for money.
What a great find this was! We booked it to stay BUT found the restaurant was just superb (see separate review). Not sure how many rooms it has but really comfortable, well equipped with large double bed, solid mattress and AC. Bathroom big and well equipped. We will definitely try to book this every time we are in the area of this beautiful town.
Long story short, I needed a place to stay and this hotel popped up. It was (thankfully) close to where I was located, had SECURE parking, and SUPER friendly staff. Great location along a walking Platz with lovely stores and cafes. I’m so happy I ended up in this gem!!!! Nothing fancy, but clean and has an elevator. I’d stay here again just for the parking!!!
I adore this place, great food, everything I tried was very delicious!Be sure that even if you are not able to breathe, you will not stop eating.Good choice of wine. And of corse people who work here, very friendly, with good sense of humor. Love it so much
I really love this restaurant. The owner and the staff are so efficient and kind. The food is superb. The pasta with rage sauce is the best I've ever eaten. The panna cotta is delicious. They offer a snack of ham while you are ordering, and a lemon sherbet at the end of your meal...and even after that, they offer limoncello or grappa, leaving the bottles on the table and shot glasses...you could even have more than one if you're greedy. The one thing I would definitely order is the antipasto...it's so abundant that you may not be able to eat anything else but desert afterwards. One only point of criticism: The olive oil they offer for your salad is from Puglia region down south. I would have preferred an oil from Liguria or Garda, since we are in the north of Italy.
The hotel is an extension of the restaurant; both offer a family experience – you don’t feel in an international hotel chain where everything though practical looks the same. The rooms are spacious and very clean, the staff very helpful and friendly; the price probably a little bit high. Enjoy!
It’s a Michelin Guide restaurant and a hotel. We didn’t have the time to visit the restaurant but we had a great stay in the hotel. I would really like to commend the staff who were especially helpful getting our car parked and us checked-in. The free minibar was a nice touch. The room had some food odors from the restaurant but when we closed the windows the odors went down the ventilation shaft. The breakfast was good but later they didn’t refill the food and drinks that was consumed which was a pity. Late arrivals got a less rich breakfast.
We stayed here for three nights years ago, having been washed out of our campsite by a freak storm. The rooms were fine, clean, spacious comfortable. But the real thing with this hotel is the restaurant. Un-be-leivable but in a quiet understated way. I swear to god that the risotto i had for a starter which was i think based on raddichio, with an amazing salty cheese on was sublime. The antipasti meat board was equally amazing and the kids fell silent for some time as they chomped through the pasta with meat rage. It was worth the storm, ten years later i remember it fondly. Complimenti
