A great hotel, with all the amenities very close to the town centre. Located high on a hill. Our room overlooked the lake, with beautiful views. Excellent service. The hotel is closing down for refurbishment until April 2022.
Nice old hotel, many rules in regards to Corona. Hotel is charming but may need some paint here and there. Room is 100,- euro a night including a really good breakfast and free parking. It’s a 10 minute walk downhill to a rather large supermarket. They offer a shuttle service to downtown. Be aware, this is no free service. They charge 5,- per person per ride. A taxi is 7,10 for the same trip ;)
The hotel is a beautiful building and lies amongst a beautiful garden area with pool close by. There are plenty of spaces to park your car. The bedroom room was large and we had a little balcony overlooking the Varese Lake. The bathroom was clean but needs updating. The dining area too is large Ian spacious but again it would need updating and the windows were dirty.
This place is everything we wish for. I love the location, the building, the garden, the pool and the staff. We've been here 3 times, and holliday starts as soon as we arrive here. The garden is big and relaxing during the day and at the end of the day a perfect hang out for an aperitivo. Enough parking place. Swimming pool with beds. I want to go back!
The hotel looks very nice from the outside. cool building. But when we arrived the room (especially toilet and floor) was dirty. After showing the reception the pictures they sent someone to clean. Afterwards the floor was cleaned, but the toilet still was full of bloodspots from the people staying there before us. So we cleaned the toilet by ourselves. That's not acceptable. Also we would not book a deluxeroom again. More expensive and ours didn't have a balcony and lake view. Most of the standard rooms have balcony and lake view. So not worth to spend more money for the little extra space next to the door.
It's a fairytale! It took me a lot to decide if to take the risk to travel or not. I'm glad I did take the risk! This is the first holiday when I don't check anything about the place I was going to stay, surrounding area not at all, just wanted to escape London for a bit. From far one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed. The hotel looks like a museum, incredibly amazing, surprises didn't chased to happen, they have a pool, tennis court, soccer court so many facilities, it's crazy. The room I've stayed, stunning, the view from the balcony took my breath away. It's quite, it's beautiful, it's perfect! Hotel stuff, they couldn't do any better than this, friendly, willing to assist whenever necessary, I felt like home! I've even got an early check in 🤗.Thank you Domenico, Monica, Andrea, Manpreet and everyone else!!! For anyone looking to escape the madness from a busy city like London let's say, this is the best place to be! P.S. make sure you bring mosquitoes spray, as I've mentioned I haven't done any inquiries before coming so, mosquitoes attack wasn't fun at all. I was looking forward to have dinner in the outdoors restaurant which ended up being a nightmare, but it was entirely my fault, the hotel is located on a hill, surrendered by trees obviously you'll have to deal with mosquitoes. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to come back! Thank you🤗, Mirela…
Because we were flying out of Malpensa the next day we opted for Varese over Milan for convenience, ambience and price. We also wanted to dine at the very popular Albergo Ristorante Bologna in town but didn't want to risk a noisy final night before our long-haul flight, so opted for the more secluded Palace Grand Hotel. For the same price (or less) as some tiny shirtbox in Milan you can stay at this majestic hotel, breathe some fresh mountain air, enjoy the scenery and still easily catch the Express direct to the airport. The staff were wonderful, our room overlooked the village below and the hotel lived up to its name of being grand and a palace. I was reminded of the Grand Budapest Hotel in the movie (minus Ralph Fiennes, of course). It's that sort of place, stylish and classically European, at least in the mind of these visitors from the antipodes. It is a cab ride to and from the station, obviously, but the hotel provided a shuttle to and from town for our restaurant booking. We didn't see much of Varese in such a short stay but it looked worthy of a longer look. Would I stay at the Palace Grand again? In a heartbeat - and preferably for a week, next time.…
The stay in this hotel has been a positive surprise. I was expecting an old, rather decadent building, but instead of that, we enjoyed the stay in a charming, classic and yet, comfortable hotel. Building is rather well maintained and the rooms are nice and large, with beautiful bathrooms and great views. On top of that, you can enjoy an outstanding dinner at the restaurant, with very good food and excellent service. Breakfast is good as well. And all, at a very reasonable price.
The Belle Epoque Boutique Hotel, type Palace, with spacious rooms, good restaurant, exceptional view on Lago do Varese. Hidden treasure. A bit far away from the Center - the car is necessary but the hotel offers free transport in the afternoons and in the evenings
The hotel is on top of a hill accessed by a long windy steep hill. If you have no car then there are some courtesy transfers to town ( about 2 km away) otherwise you will need taxi. 12-15€. Building has a grand exterior but not particularly grand and a bit frayed in places . Had executive room on fifth floors with superb view of lake. Good size room with comfy bed, fridge, hairdryer and wardrobe. Bring spare coat hangers! Part of large group so judging standard of hotel for food difficult. Buffet meal( which is not the norm here) in evening of soup, pasta, choice of 2 mains was variable but overall was quite good. Buffet breakfast taken by all guests was very crowded but very good. Wide range of pastries, rolls, fruits, meat, cheese and bacon & egg. However bit spoilt on occasions by constant long queues for the two slow drinks machines ( or only one on occasions). Wifi not fast but accessible throughout hotel. There is a small Outdoor swimming pool and grounds. Supermarket at bottom of hill or there is Carrefour beside Nord railway station. Milan and Lake Maggiore about an hour away by train. Visit Sacre Monte which can be done by bus.…
