Located in the best residential area of Varese, Villa Adrina is a place which deserves to be visited. The rooms are comfortable with a good Tv set, the place with its garden is very lovely, homemade cakes, a sort of feeling at home.
Wonderful host, we had the pick of the rooms staying in the suite. A little worn but that makes it very charming and authentic b&b experience - for the money its great value. The restaurant close by was one of the best meals we had in Italy. Great location to access the Lake District.
Stayed there for a night in the family room which is right under the roof. That was the worst location due to the heat and the fact that the windows had been kept open the whole day, we took our own portable fans for the night. The unique bathroom that we had to share had a leaky shower which kept dripping the whole night. Most disappointing was the breakfast were we had industrial biscotti, single dose industrial jams, cheap bread. Juices were also the sugary industrial varieties. For a small B&B one would have expected some fresh local food sadly only scrambled eggs were done on site... I would certainly not go back despite the reasonable price for a night
We were greeted warmly by our hostess, Signora Adriana, who went out of her way to assist us with luggage and settling in. We had booked the Junior Suite on the first floor. It ws a very spacious suite with comfortable furniture and an enormous bathroom! The villa was spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfortable. There was a good choice of food for breakfast, which was tastefully presented. Just 25 yards away was a small Trattoria, where we ate most evenings. The food was simple, but good and fairly priced.
We were aware of Varese because of our interest in rowing. Many countries, Australia included, have permanent training facilities on Lake (Lago) Varese. What we weren't prepared for was the immense beauty of this area and its proximity to Milan and Como. We chose Villa Adriana after reading other reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. Big rooms, satisfying breakfast all at a very reasonable price. You will need a car to enjoy the surrounding region and to find restaurants but if you are up to it, then it is well worth it. Would I stay at Villa Adriana's again? Yes
The villa was so sophisticated furnitured that looked taken out from magazine! Signora Adrianna is a one of the best hostess, relaxed and discreet! Absolutely worths since the location also is great. Lake Como, Switzerland and the airport is less than an hour distance! For certain i ll visit her again!
Loved staying in this beautiful B&B. Adriana was so sweet and accommodating. She even got a friend of hers to come take us to the center at 10pm and pick us back up at 1am. There are a lot of stairs if you stay in the tower like we did, but its so worth it. Definitely would stay here again.
we have been visiting varese over Christmas (not for the first time)and we were staying at villa Adriana! it was a very bad experience and the opposit of what we read on social media . we did a little research and it was easy to find out that all the 5 stars on fb are made from the owners friends list on fb. the villa is not in a good condition like on the pictures and the smell of mold is in the entire house. specially in the room that we got, it was a basement but in our booking it says apartment. the owner wrote to us that it is an (apartment)but it was a very dark basement with a half window. the funny moldy smell was the worst and the used madresses that you could feel the suspension in your back. the furniture is more than 15 -20 years old ( not antique just used and old) the beds are really uncomfortable. our double bed was tilting to the middle. I complained the next day and the personal got very angry and told me that my kids where probably jumping in the bed ad that's why it is awry! ( we have been in the room 0.30 am the kids didn't even had the energy to play) the other mattresses from the single beds were worster than our double bed. we were 12 in our group, 2 families with children and 2 couples, neither of us had a good experience. the price for our rooms changed on the day we arrived from the rate we got from the owner on the mail. suddenly we had to pay more than planned. our room "basement "for example from 90€ to 120€ without breakfast and on tripadvisor it says deal with breakfast! I explained and told that for that money We could book a hotel and we got the answere, that this is the price and if you are not happy you all 12 can go. she said that there are other guests that would love to come and stay ,later on we found out why the price changed they had a party going on and the party guest wanted to stay there and as easy it is she change the price. since we were there with the whole family and kids we didn't discuss more and decided to stay the one more night since it was new year. in the evening the next surprise was there, they had a private party in the villa. the party was going on until 3 am, music loud people and cigarette smoke in the house. btw. the owner is living in the same house and the nice pictures you see on tripadvisor or fb is from her floor it doesn't have anything to do with the rooms she rent. the breakfast is nothing special, not real coffee, it was instant coffee and the bread from the supermarket from the day before! it's from a standard you would not serve your family at home. the owner seems to be very smart that try to earn money from every thing. don't ask for a taxi, it's a friend of the house that will come. I didn't want to write my opinion here, I wanted to tell management my feedback in person but it was not possible, to proud and ignorant for feedback. Laleh Khsh btw I have some pictures from the tiny old rooms and the very unpleasant bathroom which we all had to share! and a picture from the mold on the walls. so sad cause the villa is very nice and it is possible to make more out of it! …
Due to an international event in Milan, we found ourselves desperately looking for accommodation in Varese, with no luck Just as we thought that we would have to sleep in the car - and thanks to the help of a local lady - we found this amazing B&B had one last room available up in the tower. Adriana was waiting for us at 8.00 pm and welcomed us in a mixture of English-French-Italian. She even helped us to carry the luggage up the stairs, and booked us a table two doors down at the Trattoria Pizzeria Robarello The room and ensuite were small as it is really the very top room of the building, but has lots of windows and beautiful views from the balcony Breakfast was a real feast of fresh and home made produce. Thank you so much Adriana, you made us feel at home
Very hospitable, very nice, very chic, very aristocratic, exactly like the lady owner. If you want to go, be sure to book the attic room with 360° views and tent-bed. It is the perfect overnight place to go if you arrive early in the afternoon, so you can relax in the beautiful garden, followed by a cognac, a cigar and Vivaldi in the very cosy living room.
