We visited hotel and restaurant 6th of august 2021. The hotel room was clean and nice. We could not use terrace. We reserved table also for dinner in restaurant outside area not far from the Varese lake. On a scale of 1-10: Food was 4. Service was 3. I waited for cheque 1 hour and still had to ask again for opportunity to pay.

We stayed at Vecchia Riva 4 nights with teenager kids in two connected rooms. Hotel located near lake and we had fabulous lake view. Rooms big, nice decorated and modern. Big shower in the bathrooms. Hotel guests can go free of charge to public swimming pool and for small fee to fitness located nearby. Hotel staff all very nice and helpful. Breakfast adequate. Is was a lot of mosquito , but we were provided with special electronic device to move them out . We didn't have a dinner at hotel restaurant, but it is very busy in the evenings, which is good sign. Varese nice town and Sacro Monte Di Varese must be visited . We definitely will come back to this hotel for the long stay in the future .

The hotel is modern and fairly large, spacious and clean. It's conveniently located for those travelling by public transport from the centre of town, with a bus stop a few hundred metres away. It is just metres from the lake, the park and the start of the bike track round the lake. You can hire a bike at the hotel for just 10 euros for the day. The restaurant is light and modern with an excellent buffet breakfast and anti pasto buffet for dinner as well as a la crate menu. My room featured a balcony with wonderful views of the sunset over the lake and the shower was great. Oddly, there were no drawers in the bedroom, just a large wardrobe. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed in this hotel for one night. It is located just next to nice lake, near is also swimming pool which is free for hotel guests, we didn't go to the swimming pool. Our room was ok. We even got a bag of local candy 😀 well, the slot for card for electricity broke down, but they tried to fix it, the bad side was that then we either had all the lights on or all the lights off. Receptionist was very nice and breakfast was tasteful.

Due to flight delay, we never arrived for our 1 night stay till gone 1am, & were just happy we could still check in. It wasn't until the next morning, we realised we hadn't got the Lake view room we'd payed for! Such a shame, as the Lake was wonderful. Breakfast the next day was continental, & more than enough to choose from. We'd definitely stay again though, it was a nice area.

Rooms are clean but very basic. It was nice to be outside the city and the noise. We were on our way north to Switzerland and we were very happy with this hotel. We ate the the hotel restaurant which had a antipasta buffet. Eating outside was very nice but the food could be better.

We booked one night here and parking should normally be easy as its lots of parking in the hotel, but we arrived on a Sunday and the Place was full of guests for lunch. We did manage to squeeze in but we did block the bikeparking for a few hours Before I could our car. Room was fine with a small balcony with any chairs, I did see about 10 balconies facing the sea and 1 had one chair and Another one had a broken chair! Why not put 2 chairs on the balcony when its room for it? We did choose to have dinner in their restaurant as we understand that they have a very good buffet. But this evening we were sat in i separate room from the main diningroom and there was no buffet as they had a private party in the main diningroom. And I was told it was a private Armenian party and they had live Music going on and it was not exactly quiet. We had our dinner which was alright without being excellent and we had to go back to our room Immideatly after our last bite as the noise was just too much. Internet in room worked fine. Breakfast was just basic Italian.

We arrived at Hotel Ristorante Vecchia Riva on a very cold and snowy March afternoon. All was according to the reviews we had read, and I think we would love to come back here during the spring or fall. The best part for us was the restaurant on the premises with excellent food for dinner and therefore we did not have to leave the hotel during the inclement weather. Beautiful view of the lake - would definitely go back!
