We spent 10 days with some friends at La Muccheria. The place is beautiful and very calm. If you want you can enjoy the crowds in San Vincenzo or stay on your own outside. There is also a BBQ-facility onsite. The whole location is very dog-friendly. You can go on nice walks and MTB-rides nearby (watch out for the board, they sound scary, but I never had a problem with them). The harbour with ferries to Elba is just 20 minutes away by car. June was a perfect month for travelling.
After long and exhausting searches, we chose it as our first accommodation in Tuscany due its proximity to the sea and some places to be visited. It's in a quiet and wonderful area, we saw some magnificent sunsets here. For sure, you need a car for arriving, but it was our wish to stay in a more "country-side" place and we liked it and also enjoyed the road every time. We saw also a hare and a deer from our apartment window. We booked an apartment with a view to the street, but it's wasn't very noisy because it's not a crowded area. The apartment was well equipped, it had also an air conditioning, but we didn't use it even it was July. The garden is wonderful and big, but be prepared with the solutions against the mosquitoes ( spray, candles). The pool is also nice, even we didn't spend too much time there. The only cons was maybe the missing of the phone signal and WI-FI connection sometimes.…
we spent 10 glorious days with our 4 year old. The location is stunning, peaceful and relaxing. We were sold by the reviews and the website of this establishment. We found the apartment quite spacious and well equiped with all the basic things needed for cooking. The "double bed" was just 2 very skinny single beds pushed together but comfortable nevertheless. We were a bit cold 1 or 2 nights and had to ask for blankets which were not available in our room. The kitchen chairs were not very comfortable for sitting at a table, eating. Microwave and fridge were functional. I find it disturbing that more than 1 website claims this establishment is mosquito free. That is bad advertising. We were sitting outside in the evening with a circle of citronella candles to keep mosquitoes and all sorts of flying insects from entering the apartment at night. I have crushed more than one mosquitoe and bites to proof it. There is no airconditioning. When the temperatures were really hot during the day the apartment was ofcourse quite stuffy and hot from being closed up all day. The other problem we experienced was that the bathroom floor remained quite wet as well, nothing to clean or dry the floor up with but the towels, no bathroom mat to stand on. No extractor fan either. a week stay means no cleaning services is provided. The shower was fuctional though, and plenty of towels provided. The outside facilities were good for kids with some toys for younger kids. I noticed the sandpits which is located in the playground area is somewhate overgrown with weeds. I was not sure if it was a sandpit or flower bed gone bad. The views from the upstairs apartment must be the best but we had the apartment on ground floor. The garden area is ample and spacious for kids to play but badly in need of some love, the grass was long, hedges and shrubs overgrown and really not doing justice to the magnificent location this establishment is located in. The pool area was clean and the pool well maintained, with some swimming toys to keep kids entertained. plenty of shading as well. The childrens pool is not suitable for kids under 5(unless they can swim) as the water is too deep for them to play in. We stayed there in low season and it was peaceful and quiet with the whole place virtually to ourselves. Would I stay here again? Certainly, now that I know what to expect. St vincents is a lovely town and the beaches are amazing!! great for family holidays. The barbecue area is fantastic, equiped with grills and a basin for cleaning the grills as well as table and chairs but do keep the citronella candles burning nearby when you are out barbecuing. This is a basic establishment, don't expect too much. Wifi was tops! Parking was undercover. This place could do with mosquito nets on the windows to improve ventilation throughout the apartment. In the hot summer months it would not be pleasant to stay without a fan or airconditioning.so bring some fans.…
