This appeared to be a lovely, plush and quiet boutique hotel and we never expected the horrendous experience that awaited us.. After a few tiring days in San Marino we drove to Riccione hoping to enjoy the remainder of our stay. The residents’ parking area was very limited and had to be booked in advance. Since we had not been aware of this inconvenience we had to pay and park in a public parking area a small distance away. So if you do not have reserved parking, remember to unload your luggage before you go to park your car! The hotel lobby, stairways and pool area are lovely but the rooms and toilet are very small and cramped. We did not like the location, ambience and food of the breakfast room. On our third and final night we had an awful experience... right from midnight when we went to bed until 9 a.m. next morning there were terrible loud noises from the room exactly above us. Furniture being moved, things being dragged across and dropped on the floor, loud voices, loud footsteps...! We called reception several times to complain but nothing was done at all! Around 6 a.m. my husband finally went downstairs and complained to the member of staff at the reception but his reply was incredible and shocking! He informed my husband that there was a German crew doing a photo shoot in that particular room... and since they were Germans there was nothing he could do to interfere! The noise continued even after this and around 8 a.m. my husband went down and spoke to another member of staff and informed him that we would not be paying for the night’s stay as we had not slept a wink and since this was not a photo studio but a hotel, the residents of the room upstairs should be responsible for paying the bill. No one apologised, no one had one kind word to say... they were only afraid of the Germans ! Later after breakfast we spoke to the female manager who insisted that we should pay the full bill and that Booking.com would refund the last night back to us. I did not believe this story and in fact when we called Booking.com they told us that the hotel should refund the money back to us. We went to speak to the manager and there was a huge argument and after a lot of shouting and people staring, she realised that we could not be conned and was forced to refund the last night immediately. She had hoped that we would not check with Booking.com and had hoped to get away with making us pay for sleeping in that hotel... when sleeping was the last thing that had been possible! Beware of this hotel... it appears to be quiet and secluded but it is totally the opposite. You can hear the trains passing on the railway track opposite and it’s too far from the beach. It would be wiser to choose something on the seafront.

Our room was in the newer annexe, right next to the pool - just a few steps in fact. Very welcome in this heat. I don't know if they have rooms in the main building, but this is obviously older. The staff were wonderful, we only ate breakfast here but it was very good and I have no doubt the rest of the meals were too. Everyone was helpful, friendly, efficient and we couldn't fault them. Although right next to the train station local trains were not too bad, most through trains were very noisy but because they were going at speed, the noise didn't last long. I think you would be hard pushed to find a hotel in Riccione or Rimini for that matter that didn't suffer from train noises.

We came for a wedding nearby. As someone who travels a lot I can honestly say this place is special. Lovely room, whole building very well maintained. Above all friendly and well trained staff. Gave us a good tip for lunch. Will definitely come again.

This is a beautiful hotel and we had a lovely time staying here. The staff were amazing and we were upgraded to a 'junior suite'. I'm not sure what made it a suite (as to me that implies more than just a bedroom with an en-suite and balcony, but that is what it was. It was in the main house which is stunning and the room was lovely but it wasn't a suite. The old part of the hotel (main house) is gorgeous if you like something that's not contemporary but has character (I can't speak for the newer areas). The biggest downside of this hotel is the fact that the railway runs right behind it and it's loud! If you want to sit by the pool all day this is not the hotel for you. The pool is great for a dip at the end of the day, as is the lovely hot tub, but the trains going past really make it noisy for any lengthy period of time. And they run at night too - ok if you're a heavy sleeper like me but my partner heard trains whizzing by throughout the night :( It's a 5 minute walk to the beach and shops. The beach is lovely, we went out of season (just) so it was quiet. It looks set up for families and children so probably not the place for a romantic break during season. Parking costs 10Euro's a day (more than the hire car cost us for the whole weekend) but that's Italy for you, parking is difficult. Wifi is poor. It is free but you only get 15 minutes per session, which means if you want to do any work or need longer you have to constantly register for a new session and get the password from your emails to register - it's a faff to be honest. Breakfast was fantastic, lots of choice. Shame the other customers were not overly friendly but hey that's not the hotels fault. Overall we loved the hotel but the problems with the trains and wifi probably mean we wont go back.
