Overall this Hotel served its purpose well. On the positive side it’s close to the centre (new Town) and the Hotel is genuinely interesting. Our Room was on the first floor overlooking the Street and had a huge ceiling and had lots of character. The bed was comfortable and free water was in the mini-Bar. The lightning wasn’t great and the safe in the room was operated with a key on the same key ring as the card which operated the lights. Nice idea except that to lock, or unlock, the safe you had to take the card out of the light reader and within 60 seconds you were in darkness! It also had Sky so we could watch the Ryder Cup and see Europe win which was a real bonus! The are some useful observations to make. There are no lifts and getting to the first floor if you have heavy bags, as we did, is difficult after a long drive although when we checked out the guy on Reception gave me a hand. If you have a room on the second Floor bear this in mind, especially if you have a lot of luggage! I think we were unlucky as the night we stayed was a day of celebration (can’t remember what it was) and there was a Disco going on until at least midnight, if not later. This was followed by people having a long and protracted argument in the Street at 3.30am. Not the fault of the Hotel (clearly) but it’s a risk with close proximity to city centres plus having a room street facing. The Breakfast was slightly disappointing compared to other places we stayed. It was OK but very basic. Parking is also a lottery for those who drive there. On Sunday street parking is Free. We were very lucky but on another day I’m not sure how we would have managed, although I’m sure we would have found a solution but this is definitely worth bearing in mind. The WiFi was good. Getting to Ibla (old Town) is walkable downhill although a mammoth trek getting back unless super fit especially if you are having a meal there as well. The going rate for a Cab is €10 which is a bit pricey but unless you drive (not really recommended as parking is very limited) it’s the only real option. Stupidly we did wait for the Bus (at the right time) but unsurprisingly it didn’t turn up! …
It is small but beautiful hotel in the center of Ragusa. The rooms and hotel have an ancient spirit of Ragusa town. The rooms are specious and very clean. Staff very friendly, kind and ready to help. We received bottles of water and chocolates from Modica - delicious ones. We were traveling around Sicily by motorbikes and they allowed us to park 2 motorbikes in the entrance of hotel (very kind of them). Location is excellent and nearby old town. Breakfast was great with lot of local products to taste. We will come back here for sure!
Small friendly hotel in the centre of the C18 new town, near to the cathedral, and within walking distance of Ragusa Ibla (many steps, but picturesque). Large rooms, no lift. Good breakfast. For meals there is the excellent Giro de Vite osteria opposite. No private parking; if no room on the local roads, there is space in the nearby covered car park.
My husband and I stayed here for his birthday trip. The room we stayed in was simple, beautiful! There was water in the fridge each morning and rooms where serviced each day. A continental breakfast was available each morning consisting of meat, cheese, breads, cereal and fruit. This hotel is very close to San De Giovanni Square with the shopping district within 5 minutes walk.
We stayed in Ragusa centre for one night - the room was very clean, modern and spacious, lovely décor with a contrast of being in a nice restored old building ! Pity no lift but its understood. Breakfast was also good. Staff were nice and helpful. Location is very good - close to the main shopping road of Ragusa centre and round the corner from nice restaurants and bars. Two doors down there s Trattoria da Luigi which we highly recommend. (This hotel is not in the historic centre of Ibla).....We will definitely consider this hotel when in Ragusa again !
We chose to stay in Alta rather than Ibla – since we had a car. Good move. The room was spacious enough and the light and access to the outside was welcomed. No parking offered nor credibly informed. Desk staff were interested in pleasing – but this place is poorly managed. No elevator – this is a major consideration if you have luggage of more volume/weight than fits in an airplane overhead. Clean. Wifi works well. Fair value – depends? I can’t be really negative – we had a secure place to sleep. Breakfast – worked. Small 4 table dining room.
This property is a renovated part of a palazzo with lots of stairs and no elevator. I was lodged here when the hotel I had booked (La Dimora di Piazza Carmine) became unsuitable due to the excessive air freshener and lack of heat (I am allergic to the air freshener). I was on the 2nd floor (the ground floor is level 0) and I had to be helped with the suitcases. Again: lots of stairs... The room was very nice, with 2 balconies and lots of space. The breakfast was good, even though the room was dark. The morning front desk person was late the day I was leaving and disappeared for a long while while chatting with the breakfast girl. Very annoying as I needed to check out and nobody was there... finally I found her and completed the checkout as the taxi arrived to pick me up.
My husband & I enjoyed a fabulous long weekend staying at this hotel. Great room - and nice en suite. Staff were vexcellent & really helpful. We emailed before our stay to enquire about transfers & Frederica booked a taxi to collect us, who was waiting in arrivals at Comiso airport. 30 Euros agreed in advance. We had the same taxi to take us back. Again organised by the hotel staff. Buffet breakfast was great (although the coffee was a bit of a let down for Italy) Only downside was the bar/club below our room which was very very noisy. Luckily I'd packed earplugs! Overall a great hotel, with fabulous staff and very good value.
Very nice hotel, very pleasant and helpful staff, huge room, extensive breakfast served in large downstairs room. Close to good reasonably priced restaurant. Close to bus stop for local bus travelling between Ibla (if you decide that the stairs are too much for you) and inter town bus station In our opinion better to stay in Superiore rather than Ibla
Centrally located in Ragusa, the hotel is modern and nicely furnished . Next to the Cathedral and 25 mins walk to the old Ragusa Ibla. Excellent breakfast, very friendly staff. Next door to the great Trattoria da Luigi. Excellent value for money.
