Stayed here 3 years ago from Australia. Came back to enjoy the restful ambiance and to explore the local Cinque Terre. This hotel probably needs a revamp but it is spotlessly clean, staff are courteous and most speak reasonable English and are more than happy to assist in any way. The older style rooms are a bit quirky and add to the general feel of the place. Great restaurants within walking distance. Pool is a bonus and a room with a sea view is a must. Would recommend and hopefully we will be back again.
The hotel is a short 10 min walk from town, the breakfast is typical, I was there with a group and the waitress we had was pretty miserable. We never got wi-fi in our room, but did in the lobby at times. Our room was clean and comfortable.
We stayed three nights here as part of a hiking group travelling around Liguria. The hotel is a bit dated but the room was nice with a magnific seaview and big balcony. Good breakfast as well. 10 minutes walk to the center of town. Not bad.
The hotel has a nice swimming pool and tennis court, as well as a fast electric charging slot for 2 electric cars for free. Breakfast is OK, pastries and juices could be better, but coffee and fruits are very good. To really deserve 4 stars, rooms should be refurbished. Another point of improvement is acoustic isolation. The staff speaks a fluent English as well as French and is keen on helping you to plan your daily trips: really nice people! The hotel is 15 minutes walk from Porto Venere boat departures and city center.
I first stayed at the Royal Sporting Hotel when touring Italy with a friend. We had no fixed plan that day and so had made no hotel booking. The day began in Genoa and we made our way down the coast crossing back and forth over the hills as we visited various coastal villages. By the time we reached Portovenere we needed to find a bed for the night and when we saw the Royal Sporting and that they had vacancies we booked in for a few nights. The hotel was a great find. It is a lovely hotel overlooking the sea to the front and garden and swimming pool at the rear. The rooms were nice as was breakfast thought we did not dine in the hotel preferring to check out local restaurants. The hotel has secure covered parking at the back. I have booked the Royal Sporting for a few nights on a tour we are delivering in September 2019 because I'm sure our clients will love it.…
