Ok so the island itself is stunning, absolutely no doubt about that, but (and it's a big but), for the money and in comparison for what we've paid and stayed in, in the past it's quite poor. Accomodation:We stayed in an apartment, yes it was clean and had Aircon and was light and bright, but it was pokey and no balcony. It's quite a walk to the sea pool and if you have a baby or buggy it's a no go. The apartment was basically equipped but with a tiny coffee pot(for 1 person) and no wine glasses. It was basic.  Beds pretty hard and rooms just bare white. Also with such a beautiful view it's a real shame it can only be viewed through narrow windows. Facilities: The pools are lovely, but NB They shut the main pool for 3hrs, yes 3 hours between 1-4pm.... why?!?! I have no idea! Crazy for a holiday resort. The restaurant is the one next to the pool, it's basic. White plastic table and chairs etc...they do good wood 🔥 pizzas but if you're there for a few days the menu is limited. Be sure to eat in set times as you won't be able to just grab a snack outside those hours. We found this out after arriving after lunch and not eaten as on ferry. The shop: well you need to have describe skills of Sherlock to find it...no signs and everyone just points upwards....and when you do....you may be disappointed. It's very small and limited. So again if you're staying there for a week I'd call into a supermarket. They also don't take cards, but they are trusting and say just take the receipt to the bar after...which is some walk. The Staff: In general the staff seem friendly and fairly accomodating, my only gripe is they are very quick to come over and tell you what you can't be doing or sitting or anything...sometimes for no reason...the rules are endless, unsignposted and arbitrary.... Be warned you have to pay extra for sunbeds and brollies, 30 euro for X2 beds and brollies which I find ridiculous in a resort considering how much you pay. Lots of the bars just hadn't even bothered to out seats or umbrellas out, the bar staff have a v limited choice (no card payments again) no music no ambience....pop some cool tunes on, stick a few candles with lanterns out, serve some good G&T's with nice tables and chairs and Bosch! Perfect resort.... Overall, Elba itself is a beautiful place, but from our view and from the resort we stayed in it really needs to raise its game to compete and charge what it does. There are lots of beautiful places with even more accommdating staff beautiful beaches and apartments. Come Elba raise the bar a bit and provide a better experience for your customers and you'll reap the benefits and possibly have repeat customers....

We wanted to stay 3 nights at this place and arranged everything by phone. They just had the first and the third night available. So we spent the first night there. The appartment is correct and clean. The swimming pool is a bit far. They promised a bigger room for our third night. When we came back, it appeared that they had overbooking. 1) they did not call us beforehand 2) the guy at the reception explained that he had found another room but when we went to the other hotel we realized that instead of an appartment with two rooms (like we had) it was a 4-persons room (and we are 4 adults...). We called back but he did not want to hear anything. We drove back to Elba golf appartment to sort things out but the receptionist/manager categorically refused to understand. Suddenly he could not speak English anymore. He was rude and of bad faith (saying we had no proof of reservation etc). He was quite uncomfortable when another couple arrived who had just booked the day before, by phone...but since they booked for more nights, he gave them priority. Result: we lost 2 hours discussing for nothing and ended up paying twice as much in another hotel which was fortunately friendlier.
