This a delightful little place off the beaten path but within walking distance to the funiculare (trolley car) that takes you up the hill to the medieval town of Orvieto. The room was basic but clean and in a nicely kept building across the street. They offered secure, garaged parking. The breakfast was outstanding with a wonderful assortment of fresh,... More

Nice quiet hotel with a large collection of home made cakes for breakfast. Must see to believe. It is about 100 meters up a steep road from the main highway so might be tough with heavy suitcases. Be aware of the times of closing of the funicular. We were there on Sunday and the restaurants open at 7 for dinner... More

This is a nice, family run hotel in a great location; not in the upper city center, but very close to the train station and car rentals. A shuttle and funicular provide easy and quick access to the old Orvieto. Beware…the funicular shuts down at 8:30 PM (Why so early?). Our room was spacious with stove, fridge, good wifi, table... While not a hotel of which you'd expect to see glowing five star reviews, the Hotel Picchio is a perfectly adequate and decent place to stay in Orvieto. The rooms are clean, kept in good order and comfortable, the staff are personable and helpful and in terms of location it sits within a couple of hundred yards of the funicular... More

We were given a room across the road from the Hotel Reception with secure parking right under the building, all of which was excellent. I wouldn't say the staff were particularly helpful or friendly. On checking in we observed there was a large group eating and we asked if we could eat now or later in the evening (it was... More

Safe city. Nice place. Very friendly people. Love this place. If I have a chance to visit Orvieto again, will surely stay here. The hotel is on a steep street so pay attention to this. Very near to train station. The only downside is that there is no place to eat nearby. Only one restaurant near the corner.

I stayed in a room with 3 beds which I shared with my mum and my sister for 4 nights. We found the room comfortable and were happy with the service and amenities there. We thought highly of the owners and all of the staff were very helpful. The hotel is situated near the train station which was great for... More

The breakfast is very good homemade cakes). The lady is nice and friendly. However, the room, although nice has a horrible bathroom with an old jacuzzi bath (but the massage and bubbles don't work), the towel hook came off as I hung the towel and the sink is small. Wifi offered in the room is not good enough (too slow).... More

Very nice owner and wonderful homemade cakes for breakfast. Room is big and very clean. Only about 150m from train station but no noise. The time table you find at the hotel is outdated though. Check the new schedule at the train station store.

Spotless, clean hotel located a short walk from Orvieto Train Station. No lift, so like most things in Orvieto up the stairs or hill. To get to the walled city the funiculare is just across the road from the Train Station, and a shuttle bus takes you in to the ancient walled city. We thought the breakfast was unique with... More
