NOTE: This is a Covid-era review - so things MAY be different if going later. We have stayed in Montecatini before and this is our 3rd time back. 1st time in this hotel due to our original hotel being closed for the season. The location is ideal, right in the middle of town. 5/10 min walk from a supermarket and all the restaurants. The decor is splendid and elegant. The paint work in the bedroom could do with a once-over, but it didn't take away from the awe of the hotel. Our room had a mini-bar which we wanted to use to keep some food for our toddler cold. On arrival it was broken. Within 10 mins, the staff brought a spare one into the room and hooked it up. 5 Star service all around. We requested a room with a bath. The bathroom had a Jacuzzi bath (but the Jacuzzi bit didn't work). I did have a peek at another room on the floor and they had a proper bath / shower (which we will request next time). The Terace outside the bedroom was brilliant - lovely to have lunch on the balcony. The pool only opened at 10am every day - but pretty much every morning we got down there the staff said "sorry, we'll be ready soon". So the pool wasn't actually open until around 10:20-10:30am. There was a bar at the pool to get some light snacks and ice creams. My biggest issue was the breakfast - considering the size of the hotel, I assumed it would be larger (it was a single table). As previously said, this may have been due to covid. There was hot food available, but this had to be ordered from the very helpful staff. Personal Mentions Mario (from the restaurant) - we had a toddler and Mario would always make sure our table was ready with the high chair. Sergio (from Reception) - nothing was too much. He went out of his way to make our stay the nicest. Our boy loved him and he was so friendly all the time.…
Wonderful staff, beautiful decor, nice pool and great location for the town . Been twice and would always go back. The breakfast isn’t amazing but does the job. The hotel is steeped in history and the decor is outstanding. The rooms a nice size. The best this is the staff. Even in the middle of a covid outbreak their cheer and hospitable nature made our stay enjoyable and safe. Thank you.
Absolutely love this hotel. Our second visit and just as wonderful as the first one 2 years ago. The pool is amazing and never too busy. The grounds are so pretty, and the hotel building itself is very impressive. Rooms are huge, with a great sized bathroom too. Felt very safe with Covid measures - masks compulsory inside, breakfast taken outside social distancing. Parking is directly outside the hotel (small cost of 10€ a day but worth it when so many hotels in the area don’t have parking on site). The staff are all so friendly. It’s in a great location too, short walk to lovely restaurants and bars in Montecatini.
We experienced excellent customer service from the front desk staff from the moment we checked in to the day we checked out. We were pleasantly surprised when we entered our room to find that we were upgraded to a suite. Needless to say, we loved our room! Wait staff in both the evening dining room and the breakfast location were very attentive and courteous. Employees in the Spa were very welcoming and knowledgeable so it was easy to book our couples massage and to use areas of the Spa on our own. All our needs were met at this hotel.....highly recommend it!
Its a wonderful old grand hotel. The building is old with the grandeur of old times. It’s not modern and up to date, but the service is excellent, like it’s supposed to be. Breakfast is excellent, they also have a wonderful menu for dining. The staff will do anything for you to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. The spa treatments are excellent. What we liked the most is the furniture they used are antiques and it makes you feel like royalty. We can’t wait to go back there.
