Spent week with Shearings in April and could not fault the hotel at all. Rooms and hotel areas were clean, staff friendly, meals very good (with vegetarians well catered for) with bottles of wine served at dinner. Free bar at night was very welcome. The staff were pleasant, helpful and well mannered. Hotel in a good location just a short stroll to the sea and a 15min walk to the main part of town. We would not hesitate in returning and would recommend this hotel and holiday to anyone.

Whilst the Villa Ombrosa is set in a lovely situation just one block from the sea and its rooms are a good size, nicely appointed and most have balconies with sea or mountain views but there were some problems. Although the waiting and housekeeping staff were efficient and friendly , this did not entirely make up for the unfriendliness and unhelpfulness of the hotel management - the worst I have ever expienced anywhere in the world. Two other things spoiled the trip: we were on a half board basis and the evening meals were of a poor standard (after the first two days which were very good). We were served pork on five nights out of seven and my dining companion had fish on one night that looked as if it had already been scraped off another person's plate. The second thing was the arrival on our second day of a school party of very noisy teenagers from Switzerland. Whilst the hotel management cannot be blamed for their behaviour, it is worth noting that such bookings are accepted in the off-season and this can ruin an otherwise pleasant atmosphere.

We spent a week at this hotel on a Shearings coach trip in the last week of May. The room was clean and comfortable with a balcony with a sea view. The shower was powerful and kept a constant temperature. The food was good Italian food (we are in Italy aren't we!) and bottles of water and red and white wine were provided with the evening meal. The only hitch was the WiFi which was very unreliable. We would certainly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at this family run hotel for a week at the end of May as part of a Glenton Coach trip from Scotland. Our room was comfortable and clean with plenty of space. We had a balcony which looked over to the mountains and got the sun first thing in the morning which was very pleasant. The food was good and plentiful but a selection of vegetables with the main meals would have been welcome as would some fresh fruit in the mornings and evenings. The free bar was good and the waiters were friendly but did not speak very much english. Hotel is in a quiet location one street back from the main road and beach and it takes about 15 minutes to walk to the centre where there are many restaurants, bars and shops. There is a pier with seats located at various points along it which makes a very pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by. Lovely beaches but seeing the number of sun beds it must get very busy in high season. The town is about 45 minutes from Pisa which is well worth a visit. Overall our stay was very good.

Hotel was very clean and comfortable with all necessary services. Spacious room with balcony and view of the sea from the third floor. Plenty of good food, served promptly and courteously by attentive staff. We enjoyed meeting the elderly owner, who joined guests in the bar in the evenings and displayed his considerable command of English and other languages to make us feel welcome. Some of the other staff did not speak much English. Top tip: try a little Italian, and smile; it works wonders! Grazie mille.

We stayed in this hotel last week in September, our room (107) was clean, comfortable and well furnished, with a large balcony that included sun loungers, parasol, table and chairs. The breakfast was cold buffet only and after a while a little boring as nothing changed. You selected your evening meal from a menu provided the previous evening, there was always four courses including a salad bar starter, food was plentiful but a few green vegetables would have not gone amiss, just a personal view. Staff were great, helpful and always on hand when required. Overall a good hotel.
The Shearings holiday was brilliant great excursions interesting fellow travellers and first class drivers in fact Sean and James could not have been more helpful and I am not sure if Sean missed his vocation as his stories and jokes had everybody on board splitting there sided with laughter, and they has promised to be back same time next year, seriously folks you don’t want to miss the bus, sorry Sean coach.
