For a 3 star hotel it was much better than I expected, could do with updating but that is just my personal opinion. On arriving I had an issue with my room which was very quickly dealt with and an alternative given which was very impressive. The staff were always helpful and friendly and polite and tried so very hard to understand our English when really it should be the other way round. I wasn't too keen on some of the meals, the continental breakfast was lovely, the starter buffet of salad and other bits was really lovely but the main dishes were not to my taste so I chose to eat out.
All in all it was a very pleasant place ro stay. Ideally located as well, near to the beautiful beach, many restaurants and shops. Also an amazing huge market on Fridays.
One extra bit, the hotel could do with some form of entertainment, just some music would have been a added bonus x
Boring and small rooms. No minibar although presentation is included and the minibar. To have internet in the room must pay 10 euros per day.
Breakfast is very poor but very welcoming staff.
The elevator is really tiny and fits only two persons. The wifi is a bit unstable and only a voucher of few hours (roughly equivalent of your staying) is provided free of extra charge. The surrounding is quiet and the rooms comfortable. The hotel is also close to the sea (just a stroll of a couple of minutes) that you can see from most rooms. Breakfast is ok, mostly sweets and a shy attempt to provide eggs and ham.
The staff is very helpful and friendly.
Marina di massa is a small town with small little beaches with sand and little stones mixed in (especially close to the see) and some long arms of big rocks extending in the water every now and then. They avoid that big waves comes in. The water is shallow close to the coast for a good stretch making this a good place for little kids. When the sun is very hot some sea weeds tend to accumulate close to the beach. As very common in Italy you would probably have to rent an ombrellone or share with others the very small free beach. On the way to the sea from the hotel turn left on the first street you cross to get to a park with goats and rabbits (kids like it very much that) or further down to hit a go-cart circuit (for older kids of all ages). Otherwise go to the center (few minutes walking) where every evening (during summer at least) there are attractions and a garden with games for kids.
it is a 3 stars but it is better than a lots of them.
the people are SO nice !
everyone ! they will always try to do there best.
if you are with a kid the room 406 is paradise !
big Terrasse with sea view...
3mn walk from the beach...
very nice time
Had to pay 5 euro for bacon and 5 euro for scrambled, nearly 10 pounds work that out. Evening meal was included. First night had pasta in a cream sauce with peas first course, green beans with fried chicken meat balls, strange. Needless to say we ate out till the last night when we got served meat loaf made from the remnants of the meat balls, was going to go for a kebab until the police arrived.
The staff had called them saying that our passports had all been suspended until 440 euro was payed for the replacement window that was smashed the morning we arrived. We arrived at the hotel mid afternoon, work that out. They wavered the cost of the damage caused to individuals rooms which would have amounted to more than the cost of the window. Probably the reason why we didn't have any heating in our room.
My advice, stay away.
I have found the hotel very clean and cozy, with very friendly staff, every member of staff have been very helpful. The breakfast was simple with no variations in the food products , but tasty. The room I have stayed in was very clean with a mini bar (empty). The brochure is stating not to use the fridge for other food than the one purchased in the hotel, which I have found very odd. The room came with a safe and air conditioning , if you would like to used this two you need to go to the reception and ask for the remote control (air con) and the key (safe) . I did not know this until I went to the reception and I had to ask them. The safe is relatively very small and you can only fit a wallet a small Ipad or Iphone and documents.
I have found that using the wifi in this hotel is quite challenging, for each device you would like to connect the staff from the reception gives you a docket with a username and a password and is valid 24 hours. Every time you wanna use the laptop or the tablet you need to reintroduce the username and password. Once you get the wifi on your device the speed is quite good.
The beds in the room are not very comfortable and the furniture is outdated , but for a 3 star hotel you don't expect too much. The view I had from the room was just the roof of another building.
I would probably choose a different hotel for my next stay next time i am in Marina di Massa. Overall the price you pay is too high for the quality of rooms and for the hotel amenities.
