HOTEL GARNI AL PLAN

We had excellent three nights stay here. Rooms are quite basic, but there is all you need. Breakfast was good but the staff and the service was first class. Location is excellent and there was even free parking in front of the building. We enjoyed a lot the wellness spa which was include to the price. It is shared among other hotels, but it was very quiet and not crowed. You can walk there in your bathrobe from your room. There was water, tea, fruits and some small snacks available. Very nice experience. Would definitely return.

Central location with a great wellness and kind owners.

I am reviewing this hotel in comparison to other 3* hotels in the region. I was staying in the hotel during the winter season. Location Garni al Plan is located in the central part of Livigno right next to the Bivio hotel, bar and disco, a short walk to the Carosello gondola lift and still a walking distance to the Mottolino gondola lift (or a short walk to a skibus stop if one prefers not to walk in skiing boots). While this central location has a benefit of being close to many restaurants it also has a drawback - majority of the rooms are exposed to the noise coming from the Bivio disco and to the drunk visitors of Bivio disco and a bar. This problem is prominent especially in rooms facing Bivio or the main street. I did not have a problem when windows were closed but personally I like to sleep with open windows. Rooms I happen to get a last room that was the smallest of all double rooms in the hotel. It was still adequately equipped with everything in working order. Matrasses are rather on the hard side that I do not mind so this is a note for people who prefer a soft sleep. My only suggestions to the owners would be to get a bigger wardrobe and a bigger basin in the bathroom or a small stand as we did not have sufficient space for our toiletries (again rooms differ so it might not be the case in other rooms). Despite my suggestions I would still consider the room as a solid 3-4 star hotel standard. Be aware of the noise in the rooms facing Bivio and the main street (I like sleeping with open windows that amplified the problem). Breakfast This is a garni (B&B) type of a hotel so it does not offer HB or FB. The breakfast has a wide selection of yogurts, cereals including local ones. I especially liked selection of nuts and seeds (including Chia seed) while my gf loved the raw honey that you can cut of a block. Coffee (made in a profi high pressure coffee maker), hot milk and water for tea are served to your table that is not always a case in 3* hotels. Cheese and ham selection is limited but still the cheese comes from the local Livigno producer. In general the breakfast selection is above the local 3* standard but below the 4* local standard when it comes to selection of ham and cheese. There is nothing wrong with it - you pay for 3* and for this standard you get a solid selection and a great service. Amenities & Wellness The ski room has individual lockers equipped with boot drying - warm air tubes device. Unfortunately the lockers come from the pre-freeride era so my wide freeride skis did not fit in. Not a big deal, the ski room is secured so nothing gets lost if you leave it outside of lockers. The welness is a highligh - it is shared with Bivio hotel and consists of two saunas, one steam room, a pool with a few stream jets for water massage, external hot tub, and a quite room. There is also a small fitness area with cardio machines. The rest area offers variety of teas, nuts and dried fruits. Value for money In comparison to other hotels in Livigno it is rather on the affordable side given the wellnes amenities. If you do not care for the welness you would be better off going to somewhere else but if you like rouned experience with spas and welllnes this would be your price point. Bottom line Garni al Plan is a solid 3* hotel. If we consider the wellmess it is really a very good deal. Would I come back? Definitely!…
