We are just back from a lovely week skiing in Livigno. We selected Garni Gimea for location and value and we were not disappointed. It is very near the Carousello Gondala from where you can access the entire mountain on that side of valley. Indeed, with a very efficient shuttle to the Mottelino you are connected to the entire area. Because Livigno is sprawled and long you are as well to pick a spot and work from there. Our room was warm, cosy and clean. There was great power in the shower which we loved. Breakfast was typical continental with a very good variety. It is quite a small establishment which gave it a nice intimate feel. It has a two star hotel rating but if it were to get a B&B rating, I would give it four. One word of caution, there is no lift so you might want to ask for a room on 1st or 2nd floor. We got used to the 52 steps to our room but it is not for the infirm. …
Very good location close to Carosello 3000 cable car. You can walk five minutes or take the bus, that is free, to the main ski-lift. Clean and cozy rooms, all you need is there. Ms Amelia is a friendly and helpful host and will treat you as one of the family. Ground ski storage area at the bottom of the building, no need to carry boots and gear upstairs. Breakfast is good. Price is value for money. Definitely a very good B&B. Plenty of restaurant around and the city centre is 4 minutes bus away.
It is very hard to fault anything at Gimea, you can trust me on this one as i have been visiting similar places for 10+ years . Arrival - Gimea is situated next to one of the main roads with a very visible neon sign (great! finally a place easy to find, moreover the team used the correct on their web page. Even better!). Easy fit for 8 cars with 2 drive ins. Check in and staff related - Gimea team works very hard to keep you happy. Kudos to them! Very friendly, always helpful yet not intrusive. Communication-wise bit of english and german and you will find your way. Room - very clean, ordered, with a small table and sitting room for 4. Nothing dated, tired or anything similar. In simple terms - a very well organised and clean room with a bathroom and a balcony. More goodies! • towels are replaced daily, sheets every 2-3 days (a bit too frequent for our taste, but who minds?) • internet available and it is pretty quick (with a strong signal!). Keep in mind - when some 15 facebook users log in around 8pm don't expect streaming video... • Breakfast is typical (sweet pastries, cheese, meat cuts, eggs, yogurts, musli, etc.), while the dining area becomes a lounge for chilling in the evenings. Great! • Skis storage -well lit, good access, with shelves and stools to sit down (the team did some practical thinking!) • Location - some 100m to the nearest shop and a few restaurants, ski lifts also in the range of 100m but suggest take a bus (free of charge). Interesting facts - i see no reason why Gimea is ranked at 2 stars. From what i saw they are on par with 3 if not more (one might argue reception is open all the time, but then again no full time cook). One might find road signs pointing to Gimea with a 3 star reference, yet on the garni itself you will find 2 star indication, though 3 marked on the front door and a brass plaque hotel something-something to the left of the main entrance. From quality perspective I could not care less - garni Gimea and the team provided outstanding service. Only one thing we didn't enjoy, but then again the whole region suffers from this - coffee. it is just bad - beware the machine used during breakfast. BUT! do ask the team and you will get a proper cappuccino/americano/espresso from the proper machine.…
Perfectly pleasant 4-night stay. Room comfortable, clean and quiet (except for one incidence of rowdy late night revellers arriving back). Breakfast pretty good - if unremarkable (by UK/Irish standards). Location pretty good if prefer the San Rocca area as we as a group (5th/6th visit to Livigno) have always opted for. 400m to Carosello 3000 gondola. 200m to bus stop for other areas. 1km to Daphne's Pub / Bella Vista Restaurant.
