Dear Jan, thank you for sharing your experience in our Hotel. We are very pleased to know that all group appreciated our position close to the sea but to the hills and mountains too, destinations sought after by many cyclists. After the effort of a day spent cycling, I think that a little relaxation in our pool and Jacuzzi is deserved. I hope you'll choose Park Hotel Villa Ariston again in the future. Warm regards,

We were disappointed with the hotel, in my opinion it's in need of a refurb and it doesn't warrant the high price it charges per night. We stayed 2 nights. The decor in Our room although clean, was old and depressing, The bed wasn't very comfortable, and the fridge wasn't

Staying in the Duse executive rooms Are there Tea /coffee facilities ? X
There are one on the pool and one next to the pool which is under a big tent. Inside of the old building there is a bar also.

There are no tea making facilities in the room but there is a bar by the pool. There may be buses to Pisa but local buses take time although Pisa is only 45 minutes by car or taxi. You can check for a bus timetable at the Information Office in Lido. Personally I feel Pisa is only worth visiting to see the tower and that area. It is very crowded and has a lot of tacky stalls. No train station in Lido but there is one in Viareggio which is the next resort. From there you can go to Florence. Worth visiting Forte di Marmi which is close and reachable by bus from Lido and it has a great market on a Wednesday. It is along the coast from Lido. Pietrasanta is lovely old town and could be reachable by bus as could Carrara where the white marble comes from. There could be trips or buses to Torre del Lago , the birthplace of Puccini. Lovely quiet spot by Lake Trasimeno. The hotel has a lovely pool area but if you want beaches I would always go to a bathing station. The ones directly in front of the hotel are all very expensive , sometimes around 30/40 euros a day. But you do get lovely facilities and bars. My favourite is attached to the best bar on the promenade which is called La Serena. Much cheaper may be around 20 euros in off season but more expensive in high summer. Some stations have pools as well which make them more expensive. I believe that at the end of September the bathing stations stack all the sun beds away as the beach season draws to a close. You are correct in thinking this is a wonderful coast backed by the Appenine Mountains. If you have not yet booked Villa Ariston I suggest you ask for a room in the building La Duse which is separate from the main building and will guarantee you a lovely balcony.

"Courtyard views are very nice, upgrading should be considered."
"We stayed in the Tower behind the main Villa, was a beautiful building overlooking a gorgeous garden. Very pleased with our room, although it would have been nice to have been able to make a cup of tea or coffee in your room, but there was no facilities. "
"Don't get a basic room in the Tower (Torre): ours shared an adjoining door with the neighboring room and although it was locked and secure, at times the noise was so bad that it felt like the neighbouring guests were in our room with us!"
"It is worth upgrading the room. These upgraded rooms are spacious and everything in them is top quality while the price is very reasonable."
"get a room in the hotel or the Duse"
