This is a lovely hotel, high on the hill above Lerici town. The views are spectacular and it is well worth the money for a balcony room but if, everyone can enjoy the views while having the delicious included breakfast. The hotel is rated only 3 stars but it is as nice, or even nicer, than many 4 star hotels I have stayed at. The hotel is beautifully clean and well maintained and all the staff are very warm and helpful. The breakfast buffet has something for everyone and of course, as is the Italian way, lots of cakes! The bed was incredibly comfortable and the complimentary shuttle service made the hotel a great base to explore the nearby towns. The spectacular views are due to the somewhat isolated location above the town. While there is a long, winding road for cars, there is a quicker way by foot down a stone staircase. It is a quick trip down - just 5 minutes. It is potentially slippery as not all the stones are well maintained, especially the path near the hotel. The climb back up is intense but one can always call the shuttle service for the trip back up. Lerici is a lovely town to visit and is a great base to visit the cinque terre using the ferry service. Tellaro is a nearby town accessible via the shuttle service and makes a beautiful day’s visit. I would heartily recommend the hotel to everyone except those with limited mobility or fitness.

What a fabulous hotel. We were met by Luigi at reception after dragging our suitcases up the steps from the harbour not knowing the hotel runs a fantastic shuttle service. What a gentleman he was. Our room was a junior suite with a breathtaking view over the whole town. Pure comfort in our room with an unbelievable bathroom. Breakfasts were top class with the best produce to feed your hunger in the morning. Marco on the shuttle service was a real gentleman as well anytime he left us down to the harbour at evening time or to the beach during daytime. The staff in this hotel are what made it for my wife and myself, and of course the views from our room. Lerici is a beautiful area to explore with lovely restaurants and if you go do not pass this superb hotel. Again thanks to Luigi the half Italian half Scotchman and whiskey connoisseur at the front desk a big asset to this hotel.

I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to everyone, which, although only three stars, met all our needs. We spent 3 nights here with our two children but would have liked to have stayed longer. Our room had a stunning view of the bay from the balcony, we couldn't get enough of it. Breakfast is delicious, the choice is plentiful, I really liked the small glass sets, the homemade lemonade and jams, you can see that everything is prepared with great care. The view from the breakfast terrace is also fantastic. The shuttle service greatly facilitated the return to the hotel from our evening programs. The staff were all very nice, special thanks to the chef for the divine lemon-basil jam :). Lerici is a gem and I think you can see it best from this hotel. We will definitely come back to this hotel again because there is so much more to discover in this beautiful place!

Stayed at this very nice hotel for two nights the first week in October 2023. Our junior suite had been refurbished and offered a wonderful view over the Golfo di Poeti. Check-in was easy, self parking is a bit tight considering the property is on a steep slope. The breakfast was excellent due to the numerous hot and cold options and a nice treat for an American traveler. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The only negative - and it isn't really - was the shuttle into Lerici ceases to run October 1st after high season. The walk down isn't awful but coming up is a hike so persons with mobility issues should confirm shuttle service before booking. We used this hotel to explore the Cinque Terre with the ferry that docks in town and we were very pleased with the easy access to the area while being just a further bit out.

Beautiful views across the Bay of Poets, clean, friendly staff. Quite simple but all you need for a stay in Lerici. Breakfast selection is quite small but all of good quality, fresh fruit, yoghurt, eggs and pastries. Staff are very helpful and extremely friendly. Plenty of parking spaces but they are quite small, can be a challenge with a larger car. Free shuttle bus into town is very helpful. It’s an easy 5-10 minute walk down some steps, coming back is somewhat more challenging as it’s very steep.

Excellent little hotel located away from the bustle of tourists.
Excellent value for money.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Very clean and well maintained rooms.
It's a 5 minute hike from town (with lots of stairs) but that's the reason you visit Lerici!!

We stayed here for five nights at the end of September and must say that I cannot fault the place. The staff were fantastic and so very helpful - special shout out to Luigi from Johnstone at reception!

The breakfasts (as mentioned in other reviews) were second to none, with a fantastic choice and were available from 0600hrs-1200hrs, yet despite this time it is clear that everything is replenished and refreshed regularly as nothing was (or looked) stale.

Earn the views. It's a climb from Lerici, but it's worth it. Really worth it.

All in all - I can find nothing bad to say about the Grand Hotel Europa. Only praise.

I can thoroughly recommend Lerici too. It's away from the madness of the Cinque Terra (which is still absolutely worth a visit) and is more of a haven for Italian tourists. The town has a great array of excellent restaurants, and the locals are incredibly friendly and accommodating.

We stayed at the Europa for 4 nights in Sept 2013 and would agree with most of what had been written on trip advisor about the hotel.

Parking was easy (and free), just a few steps away, over the road and the appearance of the hotel from outside was really positive, as per the photos on their website. Stepping inside however was like stepping back 20 years - really rather dated and not somewhere I would want to sit for a drink. The reception staff were polite and helpful. Wireless was 5 euro for 24hours of 'online time' but the login received only lasted for 3 days - not ideal for longer stays.

Our room was on the 3rd floor with a sea view and a small balcony but again, there was another mix of good and not-so-good. The room and bathroom were very clean, the bed was large and comfortable yet the carpet and wardrobes/cabinets were very dated and tatty in places and the same can be said of the bathroom. It appeared that changes had been made to update the rooms - new lamps, headboard, mirrors, tv (although we only had one channel and couldn't get it to work properly with the ipod) etc but there was still some way to go. The balcony was ok and the view from there was wonderful.

Another reviewer has mentioned the noise and we would agree - we heard furniture being dragged across what we could only presume was the terrace of the room above and there was lots of door slamming and running water in the mornings when people were starting to move about - not great if you're planning a lie-in!

There was an excellent choice for breakfast and again, the staff were friendly and helpful. We ate at the tables on the terrace from where there were great views.

The views are something you will probably have earned - it's less than a 10 minute walk to get down to the town/harbour and a few minutes more to the beach (2 beds and an umbrella on the 'Lido' beach will set you back 36 euros a day though which is about the same as a meal out for 2 with drinks!) but the walk back up will depend on how fit you are - 180(ish) steps in the heat may be more than you'd like. We viewed it as a good way to balance out the pizza and other delights consumed.

Overall, a good place to stay, just be aware that some of the photos on the website are a bit more 'glossy' than in real life.

Un giardino vero e proprio no. Esiste un'area all'ingresso con poltrone per riposare e prendere qualcosa al bar. Alcune camere hanno una piccola area esterna con sdraio.
