Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Historic hotel in Forte in a simply perfect location, a few meters from the beautiful Vittoria Apuana, a few minutes from the center of Forte and 160 m from the sea. The building, indeed the Villa is historic. It does not have an elevator but this is also its charm. The most pleasant aspect is that everything has been family-run for several generations. Strong and capable women who know the hotelier’s trade well.
Room clean and with everything you need; varied breakfast and extremely helpful staff; price-quality absolutely correct. Mrs. Sonia and her wonderful mother give very useful and valuable advice. We will definitely return!

Excellent location in the heart of Forte dei Marmi, 2 steps from the center and the sea... simple but basic and very clean room
Excellent breakfast, really friendly staff
Recommended suitable for couples and families, shame about the lack of lift

We stayed 3 nights in May. We arrived and were greeted by Sonia. So friendly and so accommodating. They went above and beyond every day. The rooms are spacious, clean and decorated or perhaps I should say curated with good Italian taste. We had stayed at this hotel 20 years ago and it was like being welcomed back by old friends. Barbara, Sonia’s daughter, was also a delightful part of the staff. She was able to help us any time we had a question. If we needed a bottle of wine or a night cap cocktail Sonia’s mother was always up and available to help. A family hotel where you are part of the family. Well worth the stay.

I am so sorry about living a few days here, during my holiday in Forte dei Marmi I had great time every where including the beach club but in this old hotel I had many problem:
- the moquette of my bedroom is stained, and stink maybe after washing treatment. Air con as you can see from pictures is so so old.. Need to be restored as soon as possible. Terrilble!!!

I stayed at this hotel recently and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. The only positives are the rooms, which I found clean and tidy. However, the breakfast was really bad, with a limited choice and low quality products. The service was insufficient in many respects, with the staff inattentive and often rude.

In addition, I find it unfair not to have been informed in advance of the cost of renting bicycles: 60 euros for two days is an excessive price, especially considering that the bikes were not in good condition and we had to have them repaired in order to use them.

I will definitely return to Forte dei Marmi, but I will avoid staying at this hotel again. Not Recommendation.

Hotel Sonia makes you feel at home....like you are staying with your Italian sister.

The staff is Can Do..one moment...make it happen. We had a business emergency that caused us all to learn new internet skills and young and older gathered around the computer to make it work.

We were on the first floor which was terrific for us. Cool, clean room in the August heat. Meals were great. No reviewer mentioned that you can literally stay in the hotel all day long and eat breakfast, lunch and dinner there. It was wonderful - especially for rainy days.

We did roam out to find some sun and enjoy some great meals. TripAdvisors had frightened me about the pricing but we found great food without crazy prices. We did learn that in August, you really need a reservation for any of the local places. I thought this was a joke. I was proved wrong. If you are not enjoying dinner in the little garden in the hotel- for which you need to make a reservation - do make a reservation elsewhere or you will be walking around grumpy.

Thank you Sonia and team. Your warm welcome and helpful hands made our holiday very special indeed. We will see you next summer when I'm coming alone to paint!

This is a wonderful, family run, home. Guests are important and welcomed.

My husband and I have just spent 2 nights at Hotel Sonia and what a joy to find such a gem of a place . From our arrival to departure nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. We were made so welcome it was as though we were part of the family .
Our room was lovely light, spacious and well equipped with a large sun terrace .
Sonia arranged bike hire for us at a very reasonable rate , it was so easy to explore with cycle tracks all over .
We had dinner in the hotel one night cooked by Sonia's 80 year old mother traditional Italian cuisine . Also the breakfasts were great look out for baked apples a must have !
We would certainly recommend this super hotel and will certainly return . Thank you Sonia and family you have got it right .

We arrived in a rainstorm to find the front of the hotel submerged to a depth of 6 inches which we had to wade through but our welcome was warm and the room very comfortable with a nice balcony.
It loses a mark because the decor is a bit dark
and slightly dated but staff are very pleasant.
Breakfast was excellent and served in a lovely garden area at the rear. Nicely situated about 5 minutes walk from the centre and just a block from the see. Free parking right outside too.

We stayed at Hotel Sonia for one night. Everyone was really nice and very helpful. My only complaint was that we were at the top of the hotel and there wasn't a lift. The room itself was a little small. But this wasn't the hotel's fault as we had only ordered a standard room. The hotel is very quaint and very close to both the beach and the main restaurants and shopping area. Overall we enjoyed it there.
