If you are planning to visit the storied town of Gaeta, you might consider staying at Castello Miramare, which is in nearby Formia. The rooms are beautifully decorated (with live orchid plants), the grounds are stunning, the restaurant is excellent, and there are patios with beautiful views for drinks or breakfast. It's a pleasant walk down to the beach, but...

Stayed one night. Food and service at dinner terrible. Rude and arrogant waiter and poor food at dinner. Wedding party was in progress so other guests were ignored. Waiter/porter at lunch time provided excellent service and good food though. Female receptionist was disinterested on our arrival. Never again !

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night as a stop off before getting the train back to Rome for our flight. The room was a little small but ok for us, and the view was amazing over looking the whole area and sea! We had a lovely dinner on the terrace over looking the sea which was reasonably priced...

The rooms are a little on the small side but classically furnished and have 5 star features such as robes, slippers and toiletries. The restaurant is elegant and serves delicious dishes at very good prices. Run by a charming family with great staff, this is a lovely hotel with beautiful gardens and fabulous views. Treat yourself and stay there.

This hotel is truly an excellent value package. The rooms and the view (even from the toilet seat) on the ocean side are very good and the bed was also very comfortable. We had a fairly good dinner on the terrace but with magnificent views to the bay. But if you want to dine outside, remember to book the table...

A small hotel but seems to organize receptions etc. A bit old style but rooms are nice and maintained (although bed seemed old) and the view from room and from the good and reasonably priced restaurant fantastic ( if weather allows to sit outside). Make sure to ask for sea view. Breakfast nice but a bit dominated by sweet things...

We stay at this hotel for one night. The building is beautiful, a old castle from the past. The hotelfacillity are under pari: there are any elevator, worn interior and furnishing, either any aircondtition in the common rooms. However the service from the receptionist, that i suspecting is the owner was terrible. He was bad-tempered and say neither hello or...

We stayed at the Miramare while attending a wedding in nearby Lenola. The Hotel sits on the hillside above the town of Formia and has great views of the water (except for the high tension power line). Only 10 rooms and they are on the small side, by US standards. But for the extremely tight shower, the rooms perfectly acceptable....

The hotel looked lovely from the photos and was recommended to us. It was nice from the outside but once inside there was no air conditioning in lobby or any hallways and it was very hot. No one ever pointed out that this was definately not for anyone who might have trouble climbing stairs. No elevators at all and we...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A magical gulf, a magnificent view, a fairy castle: where else but the Castello Miramare, a hotel-restaurant, the only one of its kind. From the heights of Formia, in a rich, green setting, it is a veritable oasis, charming and varied, with its old rustic lounge, reception room, romantic terraces and delightful gazebo set among fountains and flowers. The comfortable, cosy rooms are furnished Spanish style; among the ten rooms, there is one, on two levels really enjoys its particular location in the castle tower. The cusine is superb, ranging from the traditional flavours of time gone by to the sophisticated tastes of today. Tradition and comfort combine in perfect harmony at the Castello Miramare. ... more   less
