Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in one of the simple stay rooms on the ground floor. The room was clean and reasonably priced. There was a dehumidifier. Private parking and a small garden in front. The lady at the reception said she didn't know if the tap water was drinkable. We left early to get a ferry from Livorno. It was ok for just an overnight.

Excellent find, great value hotel. Good location and a gorgeous traditional building with a beautiful garden. The hosts were so lovely and an excellent breakfast. Well recommend. A travellers location for people who appreciate this beautiful and unique country with Tuscany having everything you could ever want. Just don’t tell the rest of the world xx

This hotel is perfectly situated, less than 1km from the beach, 2 minutes from village that has everything you would need, a beautiful deli, fish restaurant, fab pizzeria. This area is perfect for cycling and the hotel rents out good bikes very cheaply. The advice the staff gave us on what to do and where to go was invaluable, as usual we never got around to studying up on the area before arriving so for the local knowledge was great. We never eat in the hotel for lunch or evening but the buffet breakfast was good. Would recommend this hotel however if the rooms and decor were updated the hotel would the be ideal.

We were initially swayed by the rave reviews we read, we thought we had found a gem. Little did we know what was to come. The hosts were very welcoming and were warm. We were a mite disappointed with the fact that there were no lifts available, I dont climb stairs too well. We were then accommodated on the 'ground floor' (actually first floor) from the car park level, street level at reception. The room (12) is ridiculously small, I was crabbing around the bed, there were no drawers or shelves just 2 wardrobe boxes, 1 either side of the bed which were some 400mm 16" wide each, we had 4 pieces of luggage and were forced to live out of the suitcases. We also had to take our valuables with us as there was no safe in the room. The 'on suite' if you can call it that, was so small, that to get into the toilet was an ordeal in itself. The gap we had to squeeze through was no more than 200mm 8" between the sink and the door jamb you still had to 'crab' to get to the W/C. Not to put to fine a point on it, when you need to sit on the toilet there is barely enough room to get your knees in! It has a 'wet room' shower, we flooded the tiny room (whole W/C area) as there was insufficient/blocked drainage. We had no A/C so had to keep the window open, it opens like patio doors, well it almost overhangs the bed and left a nice bruise on my back when I hit it accidently forgetting to close it before I got out of bed. We wont mention the loose floor tiles and no rugs, so you are walking on bare tiles. The television is absolute tripe with the only english speaking stations are BBC global and CNBC/Fox, great if you want 24 hours of repeating news! The walls are so thin and acoustics so good (that will be because it lacks rugs) that you can hear everything that is happening on the whole floor! Well we moved onto the breakfast, seriously I walked into the dining room had 1 look and walked right out of there. I dont know who wrote the review that said the breakfast would set you up for the day it was that wonderful, cuz it sure as hell didn't match what I saw. If you like choccy brioch and 2 types of cheese, cheapest ham and bread. Then its wonderful! Yes I do know about 'continental breakfast' I am Italian!

Room was barely adequate. Very retro 40's. The bidet was unnessary as one can shower from the toilet! Very funny actually.

It was clean and well located. Just a block off the Mediterranean. Guessing nicer hotels on the sea are quite pricey. We slept there. The staff was delightful. I did exactly what we wanted it to.

If you are looking for à quite place with friendly people around you this is it. This family welcomed us from the very start and for the price we payed we were close to restaurants, had great service, great breakfast and a great garden to sit in during mornings and afternoons. You should probably come by car to get the most out of the surroundings.

The prices was pretty high considering that Cinquale is not Forte dei Marmi but the quality of the service was simply not professional and the room was really ugly.
We asked us to reserve bikes, we arrived and there were no bikes.
The room was old, poor fornitures, the beds were uncomfortable and the bathroom really really bad

We (couple with baby) spend 2 nights at the Hotel and cqan highly recommend it. Despite booking a double room with baby cot (without additional charge), they gave us a tripple room. The Service was great without fail, the recommendation for restaurants etc very good - in fact, the best pizza we had during our holiday. Our rooms waws clean, very spacious and quite. This family room is at the lower ground floor with an outside seating area, so ideal for mum and dad to sit outside while the kids are in bed already. The breakfast selection is fantastic, very tasty and we enjoyed being able to eat in the garden. The free beach is 5 minutes walk away as well as a cute little town.
We would definitly stay there again and can recommend the hotel to everybody.

My wife and I spent 3 days and 2 nights at Hotel Storyville, and were most impressed by the service and hospitality of Valentina and Nicola. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast selection was comprehensive and very fresh and tasty. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing a pleasant stay in a pleasant part of the Tuscan coast. Also - received a recommendation from Nic for dinner at a restarant in the mountains (30min drive) and this was probably one of the best experiences of our entire holiday in Northern Italy!

Stayed in Storyville overnight on the road to Cinque Terre. The room cost 53€ and albeit being small, had everything we needed. There is no a/c, which in September is no problem as the nights are cool enough to sleep comfortably with an open window. There was no noise from the street during the night although the hotel is right on the road. The rate also inclided free parking, breakfast and wi-fi! The best value for money we have had in years of travel in Europe!
I must also mention that the breakfast was excellent, with a selection of local products like salame, cheeses and honey.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
If you are travelling on a budget, this is a fantastic place to stay. Boat service to Cinque Terre available from the nearby Marina di Massa or you can drive to La Spezia and take a regional train from there for about €2.

"Booked a family room ( 2 adults 2 children) and stayed in a large family room which was made up of two open joining rooms with shared bathroom, perfect with young children and still retained privacy for the adults. Breakfast was good and with plenty of choice. the hotel had plenty of parking space which is essential near to the beach."
