Well worth it and do read Iris Origo's memoirs about the war there "War in the Val d'Orcia" Not that big but lovely place and superb views Interesting hedges laid out using tricks of perspective Rose gardens Amazing what they did here considering it used to be rocky landscape until 1920s

This was our 4th, magnificent week-long stay at La Foce and somehow we find many new things to treasure each time. For the first time, my wife and I were alone on this trip so did not stay in one of our favorite farm houses but in the small "Etrusco" apartment in the 11th Century Castleluccio. Still, the view out...

What a wonderful stay we had in this special place. I'd read Iris Origo's "War in Val D'Orcia" and always wanted to visit the land where she and her husband did so much for the people here during WWII. To stay on the property was a treat. Our apartment at Chiarentana was charming and nicely appointed for a farmhouse. The...

I wish we could articulate the true emotion we have inside of us for our time at La Foce. We have both traveled extensively only to find our experience at this beautiful place one of our best adventures yet. No stone was left unturned and we are still in "Ahhhh" at how all the details unraveled perfectly! Planning a private...

La Foce met all our expectations of a very special place to spend a week in Tuscany. The garden was just as beautiful as it looks on the La Foce website - even in Autumn. The garden tour with Sibylla Holtz was delightful and provided an excellent background on Antonio and Iris Origo and their commitment to the La Foce...

There are many houses to choose from on this vast estate from each house it is very private you can walk, relax, read or just listen to the birds and look at the stunning scenery surrounding you. You can organise cooks to cook for you and also organise a cooking lesson which was great fun.

In March 2014, a friend and I began researching lodging in southern Tuscany. Our dream was to find the "perfect"' place to rent for the entire month of Sept 2015 ... and to invite a group of good friends to join us each of the four weeks ... and to share the cost of the lodging. Happily, our internet search...

Wow! What a place! We stayed here in connection with a wedding celebration over 3 days. This is the best experience I've ever had (so far)! Now I'm talking out of an event (wedding) so maybe it will not match exactly booking with common accommodation. But anyway. Will mention that the area is absolutely fabulous! Lots of nice walking/hiking areas,...
