Four star hotel but most definitely not a 4 star service. 3 star at the very most and that’s being generous. When booking we were told we would have to change rooms. This was agreed and wasn’t a problem. When we arrived we were given the key to our room. We asked if we would still have to change room and they said we will let you know the night before if you do. Ok, so far so good. We went to our room and unpacked. A small room but with a beautiful view of the sea. 30 minutes later we received a call telling us they had made a mistake and they had given us the wrong room. Ok so mistakes happen. We changed room (this one slightly bigger and still with a sea view so all good). We were offered a bottle of wine for our inconvenience. We weren’t then ever informed that we would have to change room again. We were spending a nice morning at the beach when the hotel reception called and said we needed to change room before 14.00 (it was 13.00 and we were just about to go for linch). We asked why we hadn’t been informed the night before as promised and they said they had forgotten. (The number of acceptable mistakes is starting to mount up). We went and moved our bags to the new room. This room was a small room again with a view of the square but still ok. The problem was it stank of smoke. We called reception and they said to go and have lunch and we’ll clean the room again. The cleaners tried everything, took down the curtains sprayed oust everywhere but as the room was so small the smell was so ingrained that the smell didn’t go away. After spending just 10 minutes in the room our clothes also smelled of smoke. (The room is a non smoking room). We asked how long the previous customers had been in the room, and they told us 2 weeks. At this point you have to wonder why a cleaner didn’t notice earlier so the problem wouldn’t get this bad. We explained that the smell was intolerable and requested another room. We were told that all the customers had arrived so they couldn’t give us another room. We said for a hotel of this size surely you must have another room because if something goes wrong (air con breaks, shower not working and so on) then you can’t just tell customers you don’t have another room. We were offered a room in a nearby hotel for 1 night but then coming back to Kursall the next night (so 5 different rooms for a 5 night stay). The outcome was that we left 3 days into our 5 day holiday, very disappointed to say the least. The hotel in general is ok. The swimming pool is very small for the size of the hotel and with very limited space to lounge. There isn’t easy access into the pool, so if you have mobility problems it would be best to avoid it. The food was more of a 2 star hotel quality. They were accommodating to my food intolerances but the quality and quantity of the food was definitely below average. The restaurant staff were polite but not very well trained. They lacked the level that would be expected in a four star hotel. If you pay four star money you want to receive a four star service and four star value. The beach is very nice

I am writing this review while my family and I are still in the hotel, just to make sure I will not forget anything. So....just to begin with....this could most probably be one of the most beautiful hotels in Cattolica, if not actually the nicest one and I will try to write a detailed review so that it is as clear as possible. Location - it is the only hotel located on the beach (literally) - you actually get out of the building and your feet will directly hit the sand :). Rooms/Cleanliness - we are travelling with our 1.7 years old baby girl so a clean room was absolutely mandatory in order for us to have a nice, relaxing stay. We definitely found that! The room was spotless and has been kept like that every day by the absolutely amazing cleaning ladies. I have read reviews saying that there were dirty bed sheets .... no no no. It was definitely not our case. Everything is literally spotless. I have also read reviews saying that the bathrooms need an upgrade. You guys....this is a historic place and from what I could tell, the owners definitely did their best to keep little pieces of history and combine them with new furniture and we believe they did an amazing job. If you expect to come in a place like this and find nothing of its historic charm.....then this is definitely not a good place for you. Restaurant - we have the all inclusive meal plan and we are definitely satisfied. Not only by the food but also by the incredible staff working in the restaurant! They are always smiling and nice (even though I am pretty sure this has been a pretty tough year for all the people working in the hotel business). Now....a message to the owner. Dear Sir.....you definitely manage the hotel with the most potential in Cattolica. I am sure you put a lot of work and soul into this structure because we could definitely see that in everything. However, there are some details missed, small things that could actually make a difference and I am only giving a few examples (even though my list is long :)): the things people see when entering the hotel's garage (that is most definitely not a four star view; the plastic flowers put on the tables of the bar - please please please replace them whith some big white candles and it would make such a different impression; please clean the terrace you have on the 4th floor and put some nice lounge chairs over there - the view up there is AMAZING and the hotel guests would definitely appreciate it (if the hotels' structure allows it, a little bar up there would be.....heaven!); do something about the hotel's "backyard" because I know it is not your fault but that grafitti and those broken windows are not necessarily the nicest things to see.... and the list could go on. I would be more than happy to detail even more :). I was really impressed by the whole structure and you definitely have all our appreciation for all the work you put into this amazing hotel....but as I said in the begginning - it is only the small things that are missing in order for you to reach the top.

Great hotel at the beach with very nice rooms, a good restaurant and nice staff. October is 'of season' and the city is a bit boring, but nice for a quiet relaxin holiday without other tourists. Sadly the hotel bar is closed till 18.30 but luckily there is a very nice bar 'next door' called Black's with the best service in the world.
