We (family of five) decided to stay in Castiglione del Lago in late July as a base for getting to know the southern Tuscany, so our requirements were to have a decent rooms, breakfast, wifi, parking and having a supermarket nearby. Hotel Trasimeno provided these really well with very good value for the money. Chose to stay in Hotel Trasimeno due to price being competitive even to renting an house. The distance to the Old Town was less than 1km so we walked up there almost every day. The Good: Pool was nice and clean, even the teenagers liked to go there daily. The staff was really nice with big smiles. The lady in the breakfast room remembered our coffee preferences. Having a supermarket across the road was great. The Bad: The building is slightly dated, but the rooms had been renovated recently and were nice for a three star hotel. Breakfast was otherwise ok, but there weren't any vegetables (expected to find tomato, cucumber or lettuce).…
Very friendly staff welcome you with all endorsement to your requests if any. Super location close to the historical part of lovely town and to beach promenade on lake quay. Nice restaurants and bars nearby with lake view , If u're lucky with weather the lake tours are romantic. Hotel welcomes u with quiet comfort and tasty breakfast . Nice and easy free private parking at hotels territory is a plus.
We hadn't researched this area and were simply grateful for a hotel with parking, which is probably not easy to find in the upper town. The ensuite room was satisfactory but we were amused to see that the electric lead for the hairdryer in the bathroom was plugged into a socket in the bedroom. I wonder what UK hotel inspectors would say about that? What comments would they make about the strange arrangement of electric leads on another wall ? However, everything was very clean and we were able to reach the eating places in the upper town after about a ten to fifteen minute brisk march along the main road and up some steep steps ( These split level Italian towns are great for the figure!) Even though it was nearly the end of May however, no move had been made to prepare the swimming pool and its sunbathing area for the season, an omission which was rather a pity.…
this hotel is right on the main road surrounded by petrol stations and opposite a shopping complex, we didn't expect a lake view because of the low price 60 euros a night. We were suprised to the off hand way we were treated at check in and worried that our passports were just left in a pigeon hole behind reception throughout our stay (3 nights). It was late afternoon when we arrived so the tempreture was in the 30's imagine our disapiontment when finding the air conditioning not working I asked at reception about this and was told later. The pool was welcome though and the room itself was clean, however the towels were very rough almost like sandpaper. We ate out in the evening it was a 20 minutes walk up hill to the old town which was lovely. Breakfast was fairly basic but included in the price packaged croissants , the dining area was in need of a lick of paint. Later we found out that the air conditioning does not come on until 5pm and goes off sometime in the night so had a rather uncomfortable stay. If they put the price up by 10 euros a night and invested in some fabric softner and had the air conditioning on longer it would have been more pleasant.…
