Between cosy atmosphere, amazing food, family feelings and perfect services, we wouldn’t dare anything but recommendations about the hotel and its services. Thanks to all of you for making our holidays so easy and peaceful. Second stay and not the last one, definitely!
Alpine chic, that’s what it is. Guest from many different countries all feel equally welcome, whether they are regulars or for the first time @lagenzianella. We would definitely return if life brings us back at Bormio! Great cuisine, excellent hospitality and lovely alpine styling. Cozy hotelbar for teatime and aperitivo.
This is our third stay at La Genzianella & definitely not our last! Every time, without fail, the staff & family go above & beyond offering us incredible food, comfort & warmth from smiling staff. It’s hard to beat! We always feel like we’ve had a proper holiday after a stay at La Genzianella. We cannot recommend it highly enough.
We have just returned from another wonderful week at Hotel Genzianella. We look forward to our visit every year- and we missed it so much during the pandemic. As always the hotel exceeds all expectations. A lovely atmosphere, a quite elegance, delicious food, fantastic and friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and a warm welcome from the family. it is definitely my favourite hotel in Europe!
This is the most inviting hotel I’ve ever experienced. Anywhere. I’ve stayed in many great hotels, quaint B&Bs, wonderful agriturismos, etc. — the world over — and many, many of them have been fantastic and worth a return. But this is the place I definitely return to again and again. The family-owned Hotel Genzianella is marked very specifically by that family, whose presence is in front of you every day, all day, in every way. Three kids (who are kids no longer) and mom run the place. They serve (and cook) breakfast, they’re at the front desk, at the apres-ski/bike bar with a Prosecco, all over dinner, after-dinner, at sleep time — how are people this busy never, ever, grumpy! :-) Seriously, I’ve been here at least five times, and there never are any tired, fake smiles. No fake anything. Everything here is real — warm greetings, inviting hotel details both hotel-wide and in each room, and, especially lovely, a total and complete attention to local traditions and the place they’ve grown up in. Beautiful Bormio. They know regional food delicacies, they know the flowers in the mountains (Genzianella is a pretty little flower), the peaks, the bike routes/ski terrain, the regional wines, the traditional dress — these things are in their souls and they happily share it all if you care. OK, OK — I’m a sucker for people who are passionate about their culture, especially when their culture is as rich as Bormio’s, as Italy’s. The Genzianella has built a moderately priced family-owned hotel that reflects that passion. I said there are three children and a mom, but the reality is that every staff member seems a part of the clan. I am not exaggerating. Every time I go back — over the course of 15 years now — the same friendly faces are there. When I arrive, I feel as if I’m jumping into an almost magical persona of place that always, always seems to bring me immediately into that big embrace. To the point: the food is great, rooms are clean and neat, the facilities are all you need. The hotel is a quick walk from downtown Bormio — five minutes, across an amazing pedestrian bridge. Price is moderate, and well worth it.…
We came as two avid cyclist who were immediately and warming welcomed and shown the secure bike room, which was video monitored and stocked with all the tools and stands necessary to clean and attend to our bikes. Our room was a roomy and exceptionally comfortable junior suite that was very clean and appointed with various baskets and closet space that made organizing and storing our gear easy. As nice as the physical accommodations were, the meals were even better! The five course dinner that was part of our half board package, could not have been exceeded. All ingredients were fresh and exceptionally well prepared. In addition the service was also outstanding! If i had to list any negatives, it would have to be the weak WIFI signal which made communications for work in the states difficult. We definitely plan to return to this warm and welcoming hotel that is family run and centrally located in the middle of cycling paradise.…
Our group of 8 came to ride Stelvio, Gavia and the Mortirolo. Couldn't have picked a more convenient and welcoming hotel. Top notch in all respects - they also have an awesome "bike room" - secure with a full bike shop provisioned repair area. This is the place to stay as you tackle the big climbs:) Breakfast and dinner was outstanding as well.
Our group of (8) Americans visited Bormio to tackle the iconic cycling climbs of Stelvio, Gavia and Mortirolo. Hotel La Genzianella was the perfect base. Robin and her family took great care to ensure that our every need was anticipated. Bike storage, laundry, quiet and comfortable rooms, a positively mesmerizing breakfast spread, friendly and attentive staff, and a very reasonable rate. We booked B&B only but did enjoy a fabulous dinner in the hotel one night during our stay. I've stayed elsewhere in Bormio but will not think twice should I be fortunate enough to return...I'll definitely book again at Hotel La Genzianella!
We stayed at La Genzianella for a 4 day bike trip. The atmosphere of this family run hotel is very warm and friendly. The hotel looks and feels amazing and cosy. We had dinner in the restaurant every night. Not one time were we disappointed. Highly recommended on all levels. Hope to return here one day!
We are so happy that we chose Hotel la Genzianella for our recent holiday as it is perfect in every way. More than a hotel, it really felt like a warm & inviting home away from home and one we loved returning to at the end of our busy days. Everyone was friendly, kind and helpful and all staff members were very service oriented. As others have mentioned, the food is really a highlight with delicious breakfasts & dinners daily. The bar area is also very cozy and comfortable for drinks throughout the day. Lovely touches are seen all over the property, games for children, books to borrow, backpacks for hiking trips, real candles lit every evening & gorgeous alpine decor. This elegant & charming hotel truly deserves all the glowing reviews that it receives and I highly recommend a stay here. We hope to return very soon!…
