Hotel Gallo Cedrone was an outstanding find on Expedia. It is approximately 30 minutes’ drive up a winding road, and we found out why upon arrival. We were at the base of Bormio 2000 ski lift and is apparently ski-in , ski-out in the wintertime. For hiking, it was a perfect location, with the hiking trail to Santa Catarina leaving at the driveway of the hotel where the road ends. The family room was perfect, with a queen bed and 2 bunk beds, clean, with a shower and mountain view. Breakfast was wonderful, with homemade cheese omelettes or fried eggs, cappuccinos or tea or hot chocolate (submarinos), homemade croissants, and jelly.
Great hospitable family who run this place together. We came here by coincidence and stayed for a week. Great view, food and care of a family run hotel and restaurant. The food is no nonsense with a lot of home made products straight from their own farm. Just the way you want to experience good Italian food. The pizza's are fabulous, from the 'forno a legna'. Nonna makes the best 'torta' in the world! You also can get it for breakfast if you'd like.. Everything is possible, just ask! The family will do everything to make you feel at home. We can recommend this place to everyone.
Don't go. Food might be ok but customer service is the worst ever. I have never seen anybody as rude as the lady who owns this place. Awful woman. Shame because the location is lovely and there is great potential.
