2022 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best

The Lacoste castle deserves to be visited for its beautiful cellar and its passion for wine, we had the chance to have a good tasting, but above all the chance to be able to stay in a beautiful villa recently renovated, the food there is excellent, the problems were that we had been devoured by mosquitoes and the prices remain too high for these services

This place has it all. Amazing food. Tremendous service (Romarin was amazing) The place is beautiful (it was a winery which then became an art compound plus a winery. The owner then added a hotel and restaurants). The room was like a full apartment. I cannot stress how special this place is. They have permanent art works plus transient exhibits. Recently they had a bob dylan art exhibit w Monet, Picasso, Pissarro, Chagall, and Renoir works. The service is everything u could ask. Pls visit this place. It’s special.

Short review- exceptionally breathtaking property where rooms, food, spa are only outdone by the efficient, friendly, charming, professional staff. An oasis far away from the craziness! Cannot wait to go back. Detailed review- We recently enjoyed a 5 night sublime stay at Villa La Coste for 5 nights!. It sits perched on a hill about 20 minutes on the outskirts of Aix. The entrance is a grand parking space overlooking the Provencal vista below and as far as the eye can see with a Tracey Emin statue at the entrance. Cool, chic! And then you enter the pathway that leads to the rooms and the Grand Salon, Foyer, lobby(whatever you want to call it!!) But first the pathway: a charming pergola that shades the entire path leading to all rooms. A stunning visual creation of jasmine plants that is both soothing visually and shady from 101 degree heat. My next trip will be when the jasmine are in bloom in the spring. But I digress!! Back to the Grand Salon-A welcoming room with immense art pieces, multiple seating areas. Fresh fruit at the tables with a small dish for pits. But your eyes are immediately drawn to large balcony overlooking the Luberon Valley!! One can sit and have all meals, cocktails, coffee. Thank you to Charles who took excellent care of us and always seemed to be working!! The 'front desk' staff sit at long table with multiple chairs and stand up with a welcoming smile as you approach them. Ready to help with whatever you need-room issues, a restaurant reservation, new battery- and always with a smile!! Furthermore, the administrative staff sit and have meetings right there so are always present rather than is a back office. Always with a smile!! I wish i could thank all of them by name but i missed writing them down. I would like to thank Simone who was particularly helpful helping me figure things! Room- a contemporary dream come true- The door opens into a small courtyard with olive tree and comfortable chairs. Room had a lovely glass table with bench and chairs and always with a welcome treat. There is a comfortable sitting area,.books on the shelves(English and French), nespresso machine, minibar filled with complimentary beverages both non alcoholic and alcoholic and snacks. Comfortable king size bed with enough pillows. built in side platform to place glasses, phone etc.Piece de resistance: wall has built in USB, EU, UK and US electrical ports. OUTSTANDING!! Patio- overlooks the valley with 2 chairs and a table and 2 sun loungers for complete privacy! Bathroom- a large glass window fills the room with sunlight, a beautiful tub, perfect shower stall with rain shower and hand held wand. Separate toilet(automatic Toto toilet) with a wooden shelf above the toilet roll with stand to place phones, tampon etc.Full ly packed will all imaginable items that one might need. Spa-Like all spaces at this unique hotel, it is beautifully thought and stunningly welcome. We had several treatments and each better than the next. My plantar fasciitis was acting up and Marina from the spa did an outstanding job in understanding what i needed and modified the massage to address my symptoms. It really helped me complete my trip as we were walking so much.!! Restaurants- tremendous meal at Helen Darozze- beautiful table, sublime food(my husband wants to go back for the carrot and shrimp!!).Thank you Martin for picking the excellent wines and even making sure our wine reached the Pizza restaurant before we did!! That is service!! Also loved the italian restaurant with excellent stone fire pizza and pasta and the most incredible summer tomato salad! The chef even let me video him as he made the salad!!! The Argentinian restaurant was our least favorite- meat was overcooked, tasteless. Housekeeping- Un-intrusive and twice a day! Laundry-incredible perk- clothes were washed and returned usually the same day with no charge. I wish I knew how they got my lines blouse so crispy beautiful!! Art work is scattered throughout out and you won't know what is around the corner(like a sketch by Bob Dylan) ; they have a map and tours of the art and their vineyard. Summary- Thank you to everyone at Villa La Coste for making our stay and my husband's 60th birthday so special. I turn 60 next year. Wonder what I will be doing!!!!!

Wow. We stayed a few nights and did not want to leave. The team is absolutely stellar and a dream to interact with even before arriving. They were always courteous and patient with a number of my questions and helped me with bookings to enjoy the property’s art and wine. Upon arrival you are greeted by the team who quickly check you in and immediately take you to your villa / room. Every nook and cranny of the space is a design lovers dream and a testament to the owner’s love of art. The rooms are stunning. Perhaps one of my favorite entrances (a mini courtyard with a lovely olive tree). The rooms are tastefully decorated and with all the amenities you can possibly think of. I love that the room includes the entire mini bar. The balcony overlooks the grounds. Absolutely stunning. The bathroom was just as spacious, and gorgeous. Toiletries were sublime. Toto toilettes and Dyson hair dryers were an amazing touch. My absolute favorite piece de resistance was the bathtub which looked out to the olive tree in the courtyard. Extremely clever use of bringing the outdoor in. Pure bliss. We enjoyed the multiple activities. The spa was stunning. We enjoyed the sauna and steam room before our scrubs and deep tissue massages. The tea setting was a nice touch in the relaxation rooms. We did a wine tasting and thoroughly enjoyed the art tour. It is impressive to experience the variety of the art. We dined at the French Michelin star restaurant and the Argentinian restaurant. While both had courteous and attentive staff we enjoyed the food much more at the Argentinian restaurant. I am biased towards Francis Mallman. Our lunch that Sunday afternoon prepared by an all Argentinian team truly transported us to the Argentinian countryside. We also had our breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The food was also delish and the view from the balcony area is second to none. The standout was the staff. They were attentive always addressed any issues in the moment and made us feel incredibly welcome. My only recommendation is better organization between hotel and restaurants. Our seats at the French restaurant overlooked a seating area rather than sitting in the cube (an architectural piece). Our reservation at the Argentinian restaurant was set for the wrong date despite having confirmed multiple times with concierge in advance. Other than that this place is a dream I did not want to wake from. I’m already dreaming of my next stay at Villa Lacoste.

After a great day of sightseeing, we were delighted to find our beautiful room at Villa Lacoste, being tired we had ordered to be delivered to the room, very slow service, little choice, when the dishes arrived it was unfortunately cold or lukewarm but not satisfactory compared to the prices paid, we had eaten almost nothing from room service. We thought that the server who had cleared our tray would have spoken with the manager to understand why we had not eaten anything but no we had had no questions so no excuses during our stay

We have the most amazing stay at Villa La Coste. The property is absolutely breathtaking. There are three restaurants on the property and each one is amazing. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked the vineyards and pool and was so comfortable that we could have moved in! We will definitely be back.

For our 45th wedding anniversary, my husband surprised me with a stay at Villa La Coste. After reading reviews from travel publications, Villa La Coste was highly rated and was considered “The best” hotel in France. In our travels we have stayed at fantastic properties, and sampled many 5-Star experiences and were looking forward to see how La Coste would stack up. From the moment we arrived, the service levels were outstanding! Every staff member took the time and effort to accommodate any wish we had. The front desk staff even arranged for a PCR Covid test during our stay. Villa La Coste is the ultimate getaway, as the grounds are stunning with artwork everywhere, and the accommodations were first class! The room was stunning, with a balcony that overlooking the vineyards, and the amenities were outstanding. The bathroom was spacious with a shower and bathtub. The gourmet restaurant was the best meal we had during our two week trip in Provence. We also had great massage’s in their spa. This is life’s “best escape.” We also visited their wine shop, and sampled their various wines they produce. We were so impressed, we shipped wine back to the United States. We can stop looking for our ultimate getaway: We found it at Villa La Coste! Everyone should experience Villa La Coste, it’s one of life’s great treasures.

Waouh... finally we found the perfect hotel in France and maybe one of the most sensational we have been lucky to experience, undoubtedly one of the top 5 in the world. Not surprising to see this hotel in the Palace category because far more than an hotel, it's a place with a strong atmosphete where you'll easily feel like at home and the one where you can enjoy the most edonist life ever considering the massive pieces of art all around the estate. Ideally located up hills and overlooking the magnificent estate of 225ha and the stunning Luberon, Villa La Coste is an outstanding property for all the ones living perfect aestheticism, contemporary art, divine food, exquisite wines and sense for space. It's like a unique UFO in the most charming area of Provence and one of the most exclusive place ever. We've been warmly welcomed by a rainy afternoon by the most elegant woman ever, having a generous smile and obviously proud and happy to work in such a fantastic place. Everything is top notch and right you will get out the car, you will be fully pampered by a team having only one goal: to help you to live a lifetime experience. You entered through a massive wooden door in a whole alley covered by a verdant pergola giving you the feeling to be in one of these Provence villages but right you go into the lobby, you discover a paradise for art lovers with incredible pieces of art from the personal collection of the owner Patrick Mc Killen who considers this place as a "kindergarten"for the most genius artists and arcitects including Tadao Ando, Franck Gehry, Renzo Piano, Jean Nouvel to name just a few. The result is simply breathtaking and even more if you're an art lover. But Villa La Coste is not a museum, it's truly a place for living and realizing how life is beautiful. We've been escorted to our room... I should better say our Villa, incredibly spacious starting with a courtyard and then an open space area delightfully designed in white and beige scheme of colors. It's so comfortable, so perfect, so impeccable, so immaculate... we felt so well that we had the impression to be in the most fantastic cocoon ever. Sofas, beds, armchairs are so comfy, bathroom is exceptional with a full marble bathtub perfect for a relaxing moment with a nice glass of one of the delicious wines of the estate. When weather is good, you have an oversized terrace with loungers oriented to the Luberon hills... all this beauty makes us simply speechless and we can say that this is one of the best accommodation we saw in our life. F&B is surely perfect as well. We just wanted to relax and we ordered from the room service headed by Hélène Darroze who has just taking reins of the gastronomic restaurant. The spring chicken was super juicy and the sauce was fantastically yummy... next time we will surely give a try into the gourmet restaurant which is so beautiful. Other options on the estate are an Argentinian restaurant from the awarded chef Francis Mallmann, an Italian Trattoria and a Terrasse for summer days with bistronomy food. Breakfast is a true moment of happiness as well with probably the very best French toast ever and a lot of delicacies... stunning. There is surely a heated pool and a state of the art gymnasium to burn extra calories or if you prefer to indulge yourself, there is a very beautiful spa offering reasonably priced treatments. What we can call the essence of perfect life. On top of it, the art way to discover all the pieces nestled in these 225ha is so exciting and so impressive. It's a kind of open air museum but with a soul and the magical nature surrounding you. Palace means service as well and we have been enchanted by a courteous and professional team taking a great care of all the guests without the snobbish touch we can eventually complain in some other luxury hotels. Again an other perfect point of la Villa La Coste is to provide outstanding service without pretention. We have loved so much our stay that we have already booked for an other stay in November... can't wait...
