#1 of 2 hotels in Le Puy-Sainte-Reparade

We organized a quick 2-night getaway with friends to Chateau La Coste. Everything was as reported ie beautifully arranged, great views, etc... but what was truly remarkable was the quality of the service and respectful friendliness from the staff. It was our first visit and they made us feel as we belonged to “the club”. A memorable stay.

We spent seven blissful nights and it was quite simply heavenly. The combination of nature and art, fabulous food and wonderful service makes this hotel unique. Highlights were meditation in the chapel and the spa treatments. We will be back - I expect many many times.

Excellent. Great service. Art and architecture amazing. Argentinian restaurant worth a visit. Main restaurant very good. Sommelier excellent. Only criticism would be the pool is small for the number of rooms. Spaces for 11 couple with 28 rooms does not work in high season (August).

We booked this place initially for my birthday in April but COVID changed everything and finally we managed to go here few months later after our wedding & honeymoon got postponed too. All I can say, this place is AMAZING! We were lucky to get upgraded to one of the suite villa and it’s was such a delight. Spotless & immaculately clean. Spacious with modern design and most importantly, the service is top notch! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They made us feel like we are at our own home, they know our names and always greet us with big smile (despite the mask!). We also tried the spa. I had body scrub and massage and it was probably the best massage I’ve had so far. My fiancé had also a massage which he confirmed was really good. Mix feelings about the food. Breakfast was excellent, we opted in suite dining and served in our terrace. Room service and lunch from their reception area restaurant is just ok. The main restaurant is waaay better. It’s semi fine dining but then again I feel that the food option is rather limited maybe the post COVID situation restricted the choice of cuisine ? La Terrasse by the wine shop is cute and lavishly green, offered quick lunch menu (the onion tart was a delish). Pool area is not so big but enough to offer privacy to each guest. Btw, the whole estate is an art gallery!! There are several art installations from different artists that can be found within the vineyard, it makes a wonderful promenade. Wines are good too, we bought quite a few. Would come back surely.

This exquisite property is a must for any connoisseur of modern art and architecture. An outdoor stone walkway loosely protected by a delightfully rustic thatched canopy leads past the suites to the reception area. Punctuated by a Fernand Léger tapestry, the space resembles a large but cozy modernist living room segueing at the far end into an intimate snack and breakfast area that offers a spectacular view of the valley below. The hotel’s ingenious multi-tiered hillside design is home to an eclectic art collection, including several whimsical pieces that would bring a smile to even the grumpiest guest as one snakes one’s way to dinner through a small labyrinth of intimate spaces before reaching the ultra-cool glass box housing the hotel’s gastronomic restaurant. The hotel is situated at the edge of the Château La Coste’s vast sculpture park, which boasts works of such outdoor-art rock stars as Tadao Ando, Richard Serra, and Louise Bourgeois, as well as many talented artists previously unknown to us. We took advantage of both the art tour and the winery tour/tasting, included as part of our rate, and both are not to be missed. The Tadao Ando restaurant astride a peaceful reflecting pool provides an excellent post-tour lunch option. There were some surprising lapses for a hotel of this caliber. The colleague who showed us our room was unable to get any of the lights to work because the villa's electrical system was on the blink, and the key to the villa's exterior wooden door didn't fit into the keyhole properly, necessitating some remedial drilling; although promptly fixed by the hotel’s handyman, both issues would have been avoided by a proper pre-arrival room inspection. Housekeeping neglected to make up our room (except for turndown service) on two of our three full days there, resulting in an unmade bed and lack of fresh towels during the daytime. And the failure to rescue our water-logged terrace-furniture cushions from the rain, or to dispossess the tiny cobwebs that had taken up residence in two corners of the bathroom, were further evidence of the housekeeping department’s need for better oversight.
