Hotel's Favourite
Lovely hotel set In beautiful gardens. We had a beachfront suite, these are in three blocks right on the beach. All other rooms are set further back looking onto the gardens. Room was spacious, slightly dated ‘colonial’ style furniture, big comfy bed and good bathroom with Elemis toiletries. Large bottle of water is provided in you room each day. Breakfast good once we got used to the set up, though staff need to be a little quicker replenishing items. Evening meals in both restaurants very good. Bagatelle had a wide choice which changed every day, all excellent quality. Service here seemed to slow down as the evening progressed. Blue Tropic was lovely, smaller and looking down onto the gardens. Other than the daily special this menu didn’t change but didn’t stop us visiting several times. Their tuna was the best I’ve tasted. We walked along the beach for light lunch at the Sand Bar, again good quality though more shaded seating needed.
Daily ‘taxi’ to Jacks Bar at 10.30 with return at 4pm. Good for lunch but not really for an evening meal. Princess Margaret Beach is beautiful but best avoided when large cruise ships are visiting. Lovely short walk from Jacks along the beach/boardwalk to Port Elizabeth.
Seamless transfers each time with Bequia Air, though planes well used inside and not quite as pristine as the photos.
All in all probably not quite 5 star, service needs to be speeded up a bit in Bagatelle but guess that’s ‘Bequia time’. The hotel is in a beautiful tranquil setting, was a bit if a culture shock when we got back to Barbados for our flight home.

We enjoyed a lovely 2 week stay here in early February. The colonial-style hotel is located on the Atlantic side of the island and a short taxi ride from Port Elizabeth. We travelled to the island on the hotel’s private air charter and returned with SVG air.
We stayed in a classic room on a bed and breakfast basis. The room was compact and simply furnished but had everything we needed and had the small swimming pool right outside. It is a climb up to these rooms so would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Our only criticism of the classic rooms would be that the bed really needed replacing as it was very old and not the most comfortable and blackout curtains would really enhance the room as there was a lamp post right outside our room.
Breakfast was served in Bagatelle restaurant right by the beach with stunning views across to Mustique. There was plenty of selection at breakfast and service was always good. We only ate dinner once at this restaurant and were fairly underwhelmed in terms of quality and value for money. We enjoyed taking a taxi into Port Elizabeth or Lower Bay in the evenings and trying out one of the many excellent restaurants in these areas. Even with the taxi fare it was much cheaper to eat here and the menus were more varied. We ate in Blue Tropic, the hotel’s Italian restaurant on one evening which was better than Bagatelle but still not as nice as the local restaurants.
Without exception all the staff we encountered at Bequia Beach were intent on giving excellent customer service and making sure guests were happy. Nothing was too much trouble. Guest service were always very helpful in reserving table at local restaurants and booking taxis for us.
The main pool area at the hotel is well maintained and benefits from a lovely cooling breeze coming off the sea. The serving of iced water and the occasional cocktail or fruit kebab around the pool were nice touches.
Bequia is, without a doubt, the nicest Caribbean island we have visited. Beautiful scenery, very safe, no hassle and a lovely laid back vibe. We will return!

My wife and I booked this hotel a couple of weeks before Christmas after a friends recommendation and what a good decision it was.
We flew into Barbados and the flew with Grenadines Alliance, stopping off at Union and Canouan islands on the way.
On arrival, we were met at the airport by the open-air taxi and were met at the hotel by a smiling welcome team.
The room we had was at the beachfront. A lovely large room with a giant sized bed( didn’t see the wife for 8 nights!), a lounge area and a decent sized balcony overlooking the lovely beach. Bathroom was a good size with 2 sinks and a good sized shower, no bath.
The room has a safe, they provide you with complimentary bottles of water every day and a small jug of milk every day too.
There is a mosquito net over the bed if you wish to use it and they also provide you with a complimentary anti mosquito spray as well as one for the room as well.We weren’t bitten much at all but we did spray ourselves every evening to protect ourselves.
Breakfast is ample with a choice of eggs cooked for you, then there’s toast, fruit, granola, meats, cheese etc..a good spread that you eat sitting right there on the beach front.Fabulous!
The bar is a the usual meeting point and the guys working at the bar are good fun!The bar stays open until the last person leaves at night!
They have bands on a few times a week and it was pretty good entertainment.
The beach is wonderful and there was so much space, so much so it felt like it was our own beach!
The pool is a decent size, no problem finding a sun bed /umbrella and towels are provided by the hotel.
We both had a massage in the spa which was around $100 USD each and there are quite a few choices.
There is a shuttle bus which takes you to Princess Margaret beach and Jacks beach bar ( 15 mins away approx)which is part of the Hotel. You go at 10:30 am and come back at 4pm.
The hotel has 2 restaurants, Bagatelle and Blue Tropic( Italian restaurant). If there is a negative at the hotel, this is where it lies. The menus at the 2 restaurants are very limited and had we been on an all inclusive package, we would have been disappointed. The Italian restaurant was understaffed on the one night we went there, a problem which the owner became aware of and sorted. The food quality was good. They had a BBQ night which was $55USD per person, the food was very good and plentiful.
I have to add that my wife had some requests food-wise and the hotel was very accommodating and flexible.
We found some lovely places to eat outside the hotel so the lack of choice at the hotel was not a problem. Try Macs Pizza( not just pizzas), Fernando’s,Sugar Reef cafe, Cocos,Papa’s...
The hotel was peaceful, the staff really wonderful( we were only just getting to know them...shame to leave!)and the location just fabulous!

This is a delightful hotel and probably the best Bequia has to offer. It has expansive grounds and plenty of sun beds either around the pool or spread out under the trees along the beach.
Stayed in a classic room. They are set up a hill ( 60 steps) so take note if you have difficulty walking. All other rooms are more accessible. Room was well appointed. And had a distant sea view. Good WiFi signal throughout hotel.
Stayed on b & b basis which meant some nights we could go out . The restaurant Bagatelle served a different menu each night and was very pleasant. Did not try the Italian restaurant but seemed popular. To get to the restaurants in Port Elizabeth there is a set taxi charge of $10 US each way. In the hotel there was a different form of music entertainment most nights. There were a few children here but in my honest opinion I would say this was not a hotel for children as it is quite quiet ( depends on what your child needs/ wants).
Staff were very friendly - shout out to Tatiana and Rima, and the many friendly restaurant staff.
We took the hotel private jet from Barbados to arrive and that was all very well organised and a great start to the holiday. The Bequia airport is very quiet so the custom officials do a thorough search of your luggage on arrival and departure!
We did the hotel yacht trip to Mustique- utterly delightful, would recommend. We were disappointed that we were not able to do the Tobago Cays trip, it depends on numbers for the yacht to go out. May be next time!
The beach is lovely. At times can have a strong swell but during our stay, there were many days of absolute calm. The hotel free shuttle to Jacks at Princess Margaret Beach was good for a change of scenery , here there are sun beds reserved for hotel guests and you stay all day, you can easily walk into Port Elizabeth from here on the broad walk .
Definitely a place to return to .

We had read in the Sunday Times that ‘Bequia Beach Hotel’ was the best in the Caribbean and they were right!
I think the main asset of this hotel are their staff. They were all charming and very helpful. They helped us book restaurants and taxis and nothing was too much trouble.
We had a beach front room which was spacious and well equipped. You are given a large bottle of water and fresh milk daily which is a nice touch.
The grounds and gardens are beautifully laid out with a decent size swimming pool. There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool. It was slightly more difficult to get a bed by the sea as they got ‘bagged’ very early in the morning. They offer a shuttle bus daily to the beautiful Princess Margaret beach where the hotel has a beach bar called Jacks.
Bequia is a small island and you can easily get taxis to take you to Port Elizabeth where there are many restaurants along the sea front. So there is a lot of choice. Two other places I would recommend visiting further afield for a meal are Firefly Plantation and Sugar Reef which has a beautiful dining space.
The food and service in the hotel restaurant is of a high quality. I think they must have invested in a very good chef and it shows.
While we were visiting the Bequia Music Festival was on for four days which was great fun. The whole island seemed to get involved.
We found the people Bequia lovely and welcoming and seemed genuinely happy to have guests/tourists on their island. It was very refreshing to find such a charming place.
On the last day when we left the staff came to say goodbye and unexpectedly and, very kindly gave us a packed lunch to take to the small airport. We were touched!
Small gestures like that make a huge impression.
We had a lovely week and we will back!

We stayed in the Bequia beach hotel for 6 days last month following a break in Barbados. The hotel and the island are beautiful. Twelve months ago, we had not heard of Bequia. Now we wish we had had longer there. The island reprfesents the true Carribean and doesn't seem to have changes much over the years. The hotel is quite new but feels like it has been there forever. The beachfront suites are great with lots of space and a short walk to the beach from your bed! The restaurants are very good although we found the main restaurant better than Blue Tropic. All the staff are incredibly helpful and the hotel goes out of its way to do the little things that make you feel special. The highlight of our stay was our trip to Mustique on the hotel's own luxury yacht 'Star of the Sea'. The yacht is often on private charter so you cannot book trips like ours ahead. We were so lucky that it was not on a charter when we were there and were delighted to take an amazing sail across to Mustique for the day. A never to be repeated experience. We cannot speak too highly of all aspects of our stay. The staff are incredibly friendly and this makes a stay so much more enjoyable. We now know a little more about Bequia. It s an enchanting small island in the Grenadines which we will always love.

This was our first visit to the island and we stayed 8 nights in a beachfront king and were pleased. Without a doubt the helpful, friendly staff made our time here totally enjoyable. Their effort started months before our arrival in answering our many questions.
Our travel on Bequia Air went perfectly both ways. Staff assisted at the airport as well.
The room was very nice and that included the bathroom and shower. Twice daily housekeeping was thorough. The room did not have a TV, but this did not affect our stay at all, though mainly because we travelled after football seaaon.
We enjoyed the included breakfast and had a few lunches and dinners here. jA few more entree choices at dinner would be a plus-especially for longer stays. The recently added deck was a huge plus to enjoy anytime during the day.
BBH allows Gideons taxi service to do room charges which was very helpful.
The shuttle to Jacks is a must since the beach there is so much nicer. There was no trouble securing loungers there and it is also a nice walk into Port Elizabeth.
The island and hotel operate at a very low key pace but this was very enjoyable, though it took a day to adjust. Many guests return yearly for this reason. We would be happy to return though maybe not right away.

We recently returned from the Bequia Beach Hotel and had a wonderful stay. Bequia was lovely and not commercialized with large resorts. Bequia beach hotel is probably one of the top places to stay in the island. The property was beautiful as was our room, which was beachfront and worth the extra money. Although we had a great time, don’t be expecting a five star resort or service. The staff was very nice and helpful, but the service, especially at the Bagatelle restaurant was very variable, disorganized, and often poor. The food was great, however, and the chef even cooked a Wahoo that we caught on a sailing trip, and it was delicious! We also enjoyed the entertainment at dinner. The beachfront was nice, but again, it was very infrequent that anyone came by and asked us if we wanted anything from the bar or restaurant. Likewise for the pool. It was rather windy, which was not unexpected, but the one thing that would have been great to use would have been a Hobie or small sailboat, but the available waterfront equipment was limited.
The other thing to consider is that it’s not easy to walk to town or elsewhere on island from the property. Therefore, we needed to take taxis everywhere, which were easy to get, but the hotel had to call each time and the cost adds up. I would suggest they have a shuttle into town every hour or two, or to Jack’s, rather than the once each way that they currently provide. These constructive criticisms aside, we had a great time and would consider returning.

We returned, just recently, from a lovely 12 night stay at BBH. We were amongst the last batch of guests to leave before many flights were cancelled because of the virus. Hopefully the people who were due to leave in the days after us got home safely.
However, whilst we were there we had a fantastic time! We stayed in a detached one bedroom cottage, Mayreau, and it was perfect for us. It was spacious and in an excellent location as it was close to everything and yet quiet, peaceful and secluded.
As others have said, the brilliant staff made our stay extra special. They are helpful, friendly and with a great sense of fun and humour! My husband in particular enjoyed the laughter and banter with everyone!
The hotel and grounds are immaculate, everyone works very hard to maintain the high standards. We had several chats with Bengt Mortstedt, the owner. A very nice man who cares passionately about his hotel and his staff.
The food was delicious, well cooked and beautifully presented but I would agree to a certain extent with other reviews that a little more variety is needed as the dinner menus were repeated quite frequently during our stay. Breakfast was very good, especially the hot food cooked to order (I just loved the Eggs Benedict!!). Just one small comment, it would be good to have a variety of pastries - croissants, pain au chocolate etc.
The hotel runs a shuttle service to Jack’s Bar/Port Elizabeth which we did use but, as others have said, perhaps a more frequent return would be beneficial rather than wait for the only return at 4.00. We also did the trip to Mustique on the hotel’s yacht, we had a lovely day but it was very disorganised and sadly we felt that it was more of an expensive ferry ride than a luxury cruise.
There was entertainment at the hotel on some evenings and a steel band at Sunday lunchtime, all of which we very much enjoyed - especially Clear Blue Eyes!
All in all we had a brilliant holiday and hope to return again one day!

The Bequia Beach Hotel is located in Bequia which is part of St Vincent and the Grenadines a former Caribbean colony of the United Kingdom about 45 minutes flight west of Barbados.
Pros
• Located on a pretty and safe beach 10 minutes from town by taxi
• Very polite and friendly staff
• Well manicured grounds with lush vegetation
• Choice of pools
• Good level of guest privacy
• Restaurant and bar overlooking beach
• Good bar beverage choice
• Efficient guest check-in
• Helpful assistance with booking local tours
• Sister restaurant, Jack’s, is located between the hotel and town on a picturesque bay with good beach. Open all day – good alternative for chilling. Other informal food and drink stalls available along the wide bay. Easy walk from Jack’s to town via coastal path.
• Good guided snorkeling and diving options available in town from a couple of dive shops
• Good taxi service from Gideon Taxis for tours
• Taxi journeys to and from island locations which are flat rate priced at US$10
Cons
• Limited choices for vegetarians & vegans in the hotel
• Reasonable breakfast choices but could make better use of fresh local produce – trying but scope for improvement.
• Restaurant and food choices in Bequia are limited
• Covid tests are expensive – dictated somewhat by no local testing resource in Bequia and need to use St Vincent labs. Should lobby Ministry of Tourism for relief here
• Current difficulty in getting to/from Bequia. Ferry service between St Vincent and Bequia is very limited and utilitarian and connect wait times usually very long.
Poor / infrequent air service to Bequia from Barbados is a serious disincentive to visit Bequia. We left Barbados around noon on a flight to St Vincent and then had to wait six hours for a ferry finally reaching our hotel around 8pm. This was not well communicated to us by the hotel when we made our booking and was a very disappoint start to our visit.
Summary
Bequia is a pretty island with probably the friendliest people in the Caribbean. You are safe here. No doubt the local tourist industry was hit hard by Covid but is slowly spooling back up. Improving direct air service from Europe and the USA will assist the 2021/2022 season. Better local flights from Barbados and St Vincent are a must. Bequia has great potential as a hub for visits to the other Grenadine islands
