I stayed in Screebe house as part of the wellness retreat with Connemara Escapes. The experience was incredible. The food was exceptional and the staff were warm and friendly. They had the perfect balance of having a chat when engaged but also giving you space. The girls in the restaurant were particularly kind and welcoming. I could not recommend this little slice of Connemara heaven more!

Always love visiting. You don't need good weather as the house and spa are so cosy. We had both - a storm one day and tropical heat the following! Thanks to the staff for being so friendly and attentive.

My girlfriend stayed here for a quiet weekend away, and our suite was fantastic. An idyllic setting at the water's edge; with beautiful views from our room. The bed was incredibly comfortable - like sleeping on a giant marshmallow! Our meals in the restaurant (breakfast and dinner) were very enjoyable; a very intimate setting with just a handful of other tables and we were able to enjoy drinks beforehand by the fire in the sitting room. A special thank you to the staff who had also arranged for a bottle of prosecco as a welcome gift for my girlfriend as it was her birthday that we were celebrating. An incredibly relaxing weekend was had by all!

Our charity cycle group stopped for coffee & scones on our Wild Atlantic Way cycle. We were close to 100 people and John Joe and the team were super welcoming with loads of tasty scones, still warm from the oven - delicious! We got to sit overlooking the water enjoying the fantastic views from the terrace - we didn't want to leave! This place is a gem and many of our group were remarking they would love to come back for a stay. They were a pleasure to deal with from booking to payment and all our cyclists were super positive about their experience in our short but enjoyable stop. Thank you John Joe & team!

The Screebe House is it a beautiful location right on the river side. We were lucky to have one of the rooms ( 4 or 7) that directly faces the water and were able to view flocks of beautiful swans come in every morning. scream house is located in the Cannamera area which makes it easy to access the lovely sites this area has to offer. In addition you are only 15 minutes from the pier for the Aran Island ferry. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. It was my birthday and John John and the rest of the staff went out of their way by serving us a lovely dinner complete with birthday candles and brownies and ice cream ! We had an early morning flight out of Dublin so the staff accommodated us with a Takeaway breakfast. We definitely recommend this property.

Screebe House in Rosmuc, in the heart of Connemara, Co Galway is a wonderful hotel in a beautifully relaxed setting. This former Victorian hunting lodge is set on the shore of Camus Bay within its own manicured gardens and is one of Ireland's finest examples of a Victorian country house. With a secluded setting and a spa, bar and restaurant on site the hotel offers guests fishing in the region with its system of loughs and lakes and also provide all necessary permits. It is also a perfect hideaway with scrumptious food, beautifully presented, both at dinner and breakfast, of excellent quality. We didn’t even go fishing or relax in the spa but walking in the area was most refreshing all the same. This is a revitalising country house experience and highly recommended.

We went to The Screebe House for lunch and it is surely in a beautful location. The grounds are well maintained and it feels like a real getaway. The food was lovely, fresh and beautfully prepared. The struggle was with service and maybe it was just an off day. The table wasn't set and when the food was delivered we still didn't get napkins or silverware. I was able to find them in the serving chest myself which is just fine but I'm not sure it's meant to be self serivce. Nobody asked if we needed anything or if the meal was ok. The chef and setting are wonderful so it is worth a go for sure.

Followed the signs into here for food. Had just picked up son from Gaeltacht at 3pm. They stopped serving at 3pm! Had a coffee & watched while all around us were served amazing plates of seafood. Will definitely go back, but unimpressed at the inflexibility of the kitchen closing at 3pm sharp whereas hungry travellers are lured in for food by road signs. Staff were unapologetic. Could have offered a bowl of chips or sandwich. Nothing. Unimpressed. Word to kitchen: domestic customers kept rural businesses going during Covid. Best remember that.

We recently spent one night at the hotel while on an independent bicycle trip around Galway. The setting is spectacular; the views from the rooms and outdoor seating areas are spectacular. The rooms are a lovely mix of traditional and modern and well-maintained. The staff is very welcoming and clearly aim to please. We did not use the pool/spa building but the facility is new and amazing. The food was excellent - we had a terrific dinner and a beautiful breakfast. We would recommend Screebe House wholeheartedly, at least in mild weather. There is no airconditioning and one needs to close the windows at night to avoid mosquitos and midges. Therefore, we found the room quite warm and stuffy overnight, but thankfully we were not there during the recent heat wave.
