This was our second stay. at Lough Mardal and definitely just as magical as the first. You have to travel a few miles along narrow country roads to get there but the scenery is beautiful along the way.The Yurts are so spacious, with comfortable beds and an inviting stove. Very clean & tidy and most importantly homely. & private. The main building has an ample sized kitchen & vast dining area, where you can relax with a book from their mini library. We decided to bring an inflatable kayak with us which we took onto the lake in front of the yurts, definitely great fun and glad we done it. The place itself has everything provides for you for a comfortable stay hot water bottles, lanterns & flasks are just some of those items. We definitely love the place & can’t wait to go back.
Hidden away in the bogs of Donegal we arrived to see the most amazing communal cob building, rare in these parts. It was so spacious, clean, organised and relaxing. We then walked down to our Yurt. Again very spacious as there were three of us staying in it. We were able to get all out supplies in Ballintra and a short taxi journey took us into Ballyshannon that night for the festival. I recommend this accommodation highly.
On behalf of myself, hubby and our little fur baby 🐕 we would just like to say that this place is amazing in every way, a real hidden gem, a place were you can just switch off and slow down . Lough Mardal has it all and more! Can't wait to return . Thanks
We ( 3 adults, 2 children & a cocker spaniel! ) had the most wonderful time when we stayed at Lough Mardal in May this year. We stayed in The Bog Yurt and The Shepherds Hut and both surpassed our expectations - they were beautifully furnished, super comfortable and spotlessly clean. The lake is fab, great for paddling with the little ones and swimming for the big ones and the hound! The huge communal kitchen & dining area in The Lodge was excellent - really well equipped with ample space clearly allocated to each Yurt / Hut in the fridges and storage areas with lots of ovens and hobs to go round. The attention to detail is second to none at Lough Mardal - the complimentary slippers for each guest in The Yurts, rechargeable lanterns and refillable glass water bottles , lovely toiletries and heaps of fresh white towels In the bathrooms, charging points in each secure locker, BBQ area, discreet positioning of the yurts for a private stay (helped that we knew other guests didn't have to hear our twin toddler tantrums!! 🙈), the list goes on! So beautiful and peaceful - the only sound we heard was the cuckoo waking us in the morning :) We were blown away by the whole experience, We can't wait to go back! x…
Top class place. An amazing location, nestled in the nature of Donegal. The accommodation in the yurt was very clean and of high quality. I absolutely loved that there was no electricity in the yurt, and each one was very private. The Lodge is a wonderful central location for cooking / catching up. A really marvelous building. Lovely walk on the trail up to the mountain, and a peaceful lake to paddle in. We saw deer and listened to the cuckoo. The land is full of wildflowers.
Superb night in beautiful surroundings. Everything provided in kitchen and yurt. Great peaceful location. Slippers provided was a nice touch. The sign at the start of the road needs straightening up ….. sad it was a rainy night as stars would be amazing out here. Yurt was warm and weatherproof, dry and clean
We absolutely loved this place. The decor and comfort in out yurt was like a five star hotel. We were in the Nort Brae and the views over the tree tops and lake were beautiful. Although there are six yurts it was completely private with no noise expect the birds. We were warm and cosy with the stove on and didn't need the hot water bottles provided. The lodge is a beautifully designed, circular building with comfy chairs, those lake views and a fireplace. There are books, records and games provided. The cooking facilities are excellent. All your crockery and cutlery is in a special cabinet and you have your own shelves in the fridge and freezer. Everything you would need for cooking is provided and the place is spotless. The shower and toilet facilities are spotless and attractively designed. They provided lovely Soap Company products and nice white towels as well as a hairdryer. I've been glamping before but nothing like this. They have thought of everything and it was a wonderful experience. The nice weather helped but I think I would also be cosy in the bad weather. I can't wait to go back.…
Myself my partner and my 11yr old stayed here over the Eastwr weekend. We had the most amazing time. Everything about Lough Mardal Lodge is stunning from the lakeside views to the homely yurts. The facilities were great and very clean. We also booked surfing lesson's through them and they were serious fun We would highly recommend giving them a go.
I went during the winter season, it happened to be a storm the day I arrived and sleeping in the yurt was a very wild experience! But the second night the storm had passed and the I could really enjoy the glamping experience. The yurt is very specious with fabulous decoration very warmth and cosy with its own wood burner stove made kept the yurt warm at night. The lodge is stunning, built using natural materials it’s an impressive piece of sustainable architecture. The settlement has it’s own lake and lots of surrounding nature to explore. I will definitely go back!
We loved our time at Lough Mardal Lodge. The communal area is spacious yet warm and cosy with stunning views. The yurt itself was a lot bigger than expected again with a stunning view of the lake. The bed we had was so big and comfy. Snuggled up in bed with the hot water bottles, fire lit, while the rain was bouncing off the yurt was amazing. We went in feb and although the weather wasn’t great it didn’t dampen the experience. A dip in the lake is also a must. Great amenities, the toilets and showers where spotless. Also a short drive to Donegal town and beautiful beaches. My partner, myself and the pup love it. Would love to come back to try it out in summer.
