A wonderful hotel with wonderful staff and I love it. If I had a million I would love to throw it at this hotel and return it to its former glory, shabby and a bit unloved not by staff but by owners. I would also love to see it as a gastro hotel, as it is the vegetarian options need some looking at, (Parmesan still isn't veggy btw.) It should be the kind of place where gym users will stay afterwards and have a drink and some food and guets from outside want for nothing once they are in there. I will definitely stay there again but would love to see it loved more and to not have to take my own food and breakfast for lack of choice and quality.
We stayed here for one night, after an appointment in Wrexham. The hotel was the only one we could find in the area for the night with a room for three and was excellent value. Our first choice, The Chester Grosvenor was full. The communication with the hotel in the run up was excellent but not executed quite so well! When we arrived to check in, the young man on reception was on the telephone for quite some time to a customer. We waited patiently for him to discuss lots of options and the call finally ended. He thanked us for waiting but he really should have interrupted his call and explained he would be with us ASAP. Our room was up a couple of flights of stairs and was large and adequate with a good sized bathroom. The sheets and pillowcases were spotless but there were dust…
Hotel was very outdated but for my family of 3 kids 2 2 year olds and a four year old it was perfect. The hotel room it’s self was very clean and a great size for us all. The garden in the sun was perfect on a night time for the kids to run about in while we had a drink to catch our breaths. But the main thing that impressed me was the staff and one staff member particular. Vercillie not sure that’s spelt right ). But from when I rang up to book the room in March to my arrival and departure he done everything to make us feel welcome. We promised our 4 year old on arrival. That we could go for a swim but unknowingly we had not booked due to covid. But he saw my boy upset and managed to squeeze us in. Will defo stay again perfect to get to the zoo and Chester center
Me and my mum came here for a spa day that we had booked through spa seekers. We both thought it was amazing, and unbelievably good value for money! The treatments were incredible, easily the best massage I’ve ever had. All staff were very friendly and attentive. The gardens were lovely and we enjoyed a nice lunch out there. We had a nice swim before our treatments and found the pool area to be clean and well maintained. We wouldn’t hesitate to return here! The only disappointment was that the showers remain closed due to covid (they did warn us about this on the phone prior to our visit) and as the hotel was fully booked we couldn’t shower in a room, but other than this we had absolutely no complaints.
Whilst the staff are welcoming and helpful, the rest leaves a lot to be desired. The hotel is worn and very tired. Some rooms are very badly maintained. We waited an hour for our breakfast and then gave up, along with our families. Its not the cheapest place to stay and I expected much better.
