Surrounded by beautiful rapids of River Raudanjoki, lush shoreline forest and pristine nature, the Arctic Circle Wilderness Lodge offers traditional Finnish log cabin accommodation. Romantic atmosphere, sounds of silence and excellent cuisine are making the Lodge a perfect holiday cottage for those who want to enjoy pure nature and hunt for Northern Lights not too far from Rovaniemi.
The property is also called Vaattunki in Finnish and it is the gate to the Arctic Circle Hiking Area, a wilderness destination ideal for year-round outdoor recreation. The hiking area's trail network is diverse and has a variety of hiking destinations and possibilities.
The location is easy to access at all times of the year. Only a 15-minute drive from Rovaniemi International airport, ride to downtown takes 20 minutes by car.
We stayed in the eco lodges - just lovely! They are basic but the beds are incredibly comfortable. Sleeping with the binds up (as it is mostly dark anyway) was very peaceful. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious and the blueberry juice was delicious! The salmon was perfect. The walks around the property - to the lost lake etc. are gorgeous. It was about a 30 minute drive from the airport. It is about 20 minute drive to the Santa Claus Villages. A special place to stay!
Three days of wonderful fun and snow.Staff lovely and friendly.Food in the main lodge for breakfast and Dinner was stunning.Staff hospitable and would endeavour to help in any situation. We stayed in the panoramic huts.Well laid out and gorgeous picture window. However it was a bit of tight squeeze with just two people.Beds too close together.Bathroom very tight squeeze.Would have preferred the two bedroom lodges near the river, had we known.Very picturesque, snow everywhere.Snow mobile, huskys and reindeer experiences wonderful. Thank you
We recently stayed at this resort and can only say how fabulous it was. We stayed in one of the panoramic huts which was well laid out and extremely comfortable. They have their own husky and reindeer farms on site and we had a couple of amazing experiences including the husky safari where we were able to drive our own team of buskied and sledge and the night time reindeer sleigh ride which was beautiful. We were bed and breakfast but were able to get lunch and dinner and a reasonable cost. Food was great - hearty and filling! Staff were lovely and very helpful - would recommend this resort to both families and couples alike!
We stayed at the beginning of the month for our anniversary and had a great time. We were picked up at the station on arrival and ferried round for all the activities we had booked for the week. The first stop is the safari centre where we were fitted out with thermal clothing and boots for the duration of the stay and even though we had packed what we thought were warm suitable clothing we were glad of their all in one suits. The ladies on reception were lovely, very welcoming friendly and helpful. The cabins are great for a short stay, very cosy but equipped with all you need really. The panoramic window made it for me, I loved lying in bed looking out into the night but unfortunately no northern lights for us 😢 We were half board and thought the food was more than adequate with enough variety for the week and very tasty 😋 The place itself has a lovely river running through, island to walk round and shelters where you can make fires and watch the nightfall. We walked over the bridge and took the first path on the right to sit on the edge of the river to wait for the lights and it was quite magical. The only thing I would say is it needs a couple of benches in the car park area as one of the other places recommended to wait for the lights. …
What a wonderful stay. Our arrival was warm and hospitable and the reception staff were accommodating and knowledgeable. Our cabin was everything we were promised with a private view from the panoramic window of the forest. The entire propery was surrounded by forest with a magnificent river running through it with gorgeous marked trails for easy walking. Frequent buses were available spot on time to take us wherever we required. A private hour in there magnificent sauna also viewing the forest with lovely stocked showers soap shampoo and fluffy towels and followed by a dive into the thick soft snow wow. Meals were very homestyle made with love while not Michelin style they were tasty and sufficient choices to suit your mood. We will go back.
