We stayed for 5 nights. The hotel is a very individual and unique experience in a world of bland packages.A very special and wonderful experience. It is quite remote [ although well placed for visiting Bordeaux, La Rochelle, Royan,etc]-so you will need transport but the tranquility of the little fishing village enhances that feeling of 'getting away from it all'.... Yet another visit to the Blue Sturgeon. This is my third time here and I am never disappointed. All the good points I've mentioned before apply this time. I will keep going back here whenever I am this part of France. A jewel of a place - Rob and Eileen, who do a sterling job, are becoming friends. You can't... More

First and foremost, the Blue Sturgeon is Robert. He is there to welcome you, he serves you breakfast in his cute little fussy slippers and his (really quite good) paintings are everywhere and in abundance. He's a very nice man, I don't think he's a hotelier at heart but he really is utterly charming and we liked him immensely. There's... More

Beautifully styled B&B with original works of art and nice features. Very spacious family roon -we could have easily had an extra bed in that room (as usually offered at other B&B's) rather than have to take second room at additional expense. Lovely breakfast - presented well and at time to suit guests which was much appreciated. Very good recommendation... More

Robert and Eileen were so welcoming. We stayed with the for 6 nights. They made an amazing and varied dinner for us 2 of those nights. They were very happy to accommodate a member of our party with different food tastes. Everyone's meal was top notch. They had a roaring fire going during the day and a large supply if... More

The hotel is clean, cosy and situated in a beautiful surrounding. The decoration is amazing and the beds are comfortable. The owners are very very nice people. We enjoyed some good cognacs before the open fire. We did a lot of ecxcursions: from St Saurin d´Uzet to Cognac, to La Rochelle and the Ile de Ré and to Saint Emilion.... More

I had the pleasure of staying at the Blue Sturgeon during a recent photography course and I can't recommend it highly enough. Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming, the rooms and overall ambiance very relaxing, simply fantastic food and a they have lovely lounge with open fire to relax in, during the evenings. A cozy and comfortable B&B with lovely firnishings and fantastic roaring fire to thaw out the bones. I loved the homely feel of the living / dining room and the relaxed but friendly approach of Robert and Eileen who looked after us very well during our stay. The evening meal we had was absolutely fantastic and a credit to Robert... More

I have just got back from a fabulous weekend of photography in the Gironde area of France. We stayed at the Blue Sturgeon for 3 nights and I can whole-heartedly recommend this wonderful place to you. The hosts, Robert and Eileen, were incredibly friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. There was always more coffee, orange, bread, wine... More

A most relaxing stay in a charming boutique hotel. Winter, so the log stove was blazing brightly from one end of the day to the next. Everything we wanted for breakfast, 2 good dinners. Nicely quirky decor with individual style. Most helpful host and hostess.
