IF this is the Peacock on the Duke of Rutland's estate("place" in the US), I had several lovely lunches with my friend with whom we stayed outside of Repton. Roast beef with all the "little burned bits" as Bunty would say. "Will Madame have custard or cream?" with the bread pudding, a phrase perhaps never heard in the US! At...

having read other reviews i was apprehensive about staying the night here, i shouldnt have been! the couple who are running this place at the moment were lovely, what the place lacks in certain areas they make up for in making it homely! had a lovely evening with them taking about anything and everything, the chap taught me a few...

Booked for Sunday lunch. Not the warmest of atmospheres in any sense. Staff just looked at you as we walked in, had to pursue them to find the table we had booked the week before. Was also cold, had to return to the car for a coat, which I wore the whole time. Ordered a starter. There were 7 of...

Had a few days back in the vale and went to the Peacock for a meal. Some of the previous reviews have been mixed but we gather that the Peacock has recently reopened under temporary management. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant, a good range on the menu, across a group of seven we tried quite a selection...

I was really surprised by the negativity of some of the previous comments - I have been to the Peacock a few times, most recently last weekend with my husband and mum and have found it to be a cosy, traditional and welcoming country inn. The food is more gastro-pub than standard pub fare and it is very good and...

OCT. 2011 One of the smallest rooms I have ever slept in; £85 R/O for 1 night. The one & only positive comment, the sheets were clean. Everything else was dirty, very dirty. The blankets, counterpane, carpets were all grubby. The hairdryer was in the bottom of the wardrobe, broken. The one chair in the bedroom can't have been dusted...

My husband wanted to take me out for a meal and decided we would try The Peacock Inn for sunday lunch, but we had little idea just how awful the meal and service would turn out to be. May I say right from the beginning, the waitress was left on her own to serve a full restaurant with the help...

Sad to say would not visit again: Booked for Sunday lunch - were not residents. The waitress showed us to our table and then left us for 15 minutes with a menu but without asking us if we wanted any water (we already had drinks from the bar) or if we wanted a wine list. We had to ask to...

We stayed for two nights at the Peacock. The staff are exceptional - courteous, welcoming and helpful - just lovely. The food is excellent too with a varied menu and great breakfast. We just hope they have got it together regarding the cleanliness of the rooms since we stayed. We were booked into a lovely room but it hadn't been...
