Although I initially found this accommodation via an online booking agency, I decided to book directly with the owner, as I prefer to support small businesses. Unfortunately there was a communication error in that the owner forgot to notify us that we could only check in between 1800 and 20.30. We arrived too early and had to 'kill time' before the owners returned. I had advised the owner, one week before arrival, that we would arrive in the afternoon, but apparently they did not receive my email? Needless to say, our overnight stay did not get off to a good start. Our room was large and the bathroom had a bath as well as shower. Both were spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good - cereals, juices, breads, pastries, cheese, ham and eggs. The young lady who served breakfast was cheerful and did her best to help; we did not see the owners again following our arrival the evening before. The location of this accommodation is rural, which is why we chose it, so finding a restaurant involves a short drive.

My wife and I with two of our friends decided to visit the champagne region for the weekend and wanted to stay in a Chambre d'Hôte in the country. By chance we found Le Marsonnet a wonderful discovery. Fantastic hosts who where very keen to help. There are beautiful spacious and quiet comfortable bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The property was extremely clean and welcoming with a bonus of a small bar with a selection of drinks for residents working on a honesty basis. We can certainly recommend this Chambre d'Hôte and will visit again.

A Champagne-birthday trip to Chalons-en-Champagne, France, brought my girlfriend and I to Le Marsonnet. We were greeted by a wonderfully, warm welcome by the lady of the house, Martine. She was eager to help us and make us feel at home. The Superior Double room was beautiful, clean, perfect, and the bathtub alone is something to write home about! After returning from dinner in Chalons-en-Champagne, our hosts were eager to entertain, and showed us their beautiful wine cellar and we spent a wonderful hour with them laughing, sharing stories, and drinking Champagne. The breakfast in the morning was just right. Very european, fresh bread, cheese and meats. We thoroughly enjoyed out time with Martine and Jean-Claude and would highly recommend Le Marsonnet to anyone tackling the Champagne Route. Merci Beaucoup Martine & Jean-Claude!

A road trip from Switzerland to England necessitated a night stop before Calais and by accident, we came across Le Marsonnet Chambres d'Hote in the small village of Marson, near Chalons en Champagne. What a wonderful discovery it was too and I heartily recommend it to any traveller in this region. The hosts, Martine and Jean Claude were most welcoming and made us feel immediately at home. Although no evening meal is offered, this is not a problem as there are several restaurants within 10kms and if you arrived late, Martine would not see you go to bed hungry. Although only 4 rooms are available, each one is pristine, comfortable, well furnished and most importantly, immaculately clean. There is a comfortably furnished and superbly equipped barbecue/party decking area, where It is possible to prepare and eat your own food, or have a few drinks with your friends. Such is the atmosphere at this superb home of Martine and Jean Claude, the bar operates an honesty system, where you take what you want and leave a note on the bar Next time I am in this region, I will most certainly be staying at Le Marsonnet.
