This hotel had lovely gardens we were not keen on the room but we were offered an alternative room when we arrived, The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very very good, There was a good choice at breakfast with the full English breakfast being excellent as was the smoked salmon and scramble eggs. When we arrived on Sunday we had the Sunday roast beef which was very good indeed ,We stayed four nights and had the Ribeye steak on our last night and I can honestly say I have never had better. The Location was ideal for visiting the peak district and I would be happy to visit again.

I visited Oakhill with friends this afternoon for afternoon tea with Prosecco. The food was delicious (we couldn’t manage it all so took the remaining cakes home in the boxes provided) and the staff were lovely and friendly from the moment we walked in. The service was excellent, the lounge was very relaxing and we had a lovely view of the garden from the dining room. Then we relaxed in the beautiful peaceful garden with sheep baaing in the background. Needless to say, we’re already planning our next visit.

Somewhere I've wanted to visit and finally I took friends out to lunch recently. A lovely Georgian house set in its own grounds, it's tastefully furnished within. As there was another event on, we were the only people eating lunch, and were placed in the bar area at our own table. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and attentive. We had several people checking up on us regularly. Good selection of food, called light bites at lunchtime. Don't be fooled by the name, these were substantial meals, obviously cooked to order and very tasty. Sadly we couldn't squeeze in a pudding. I will definitely be going again.

I booked this for my friend and I to stay at as we were attending a two day Mind Body Spirit Show at Darley Dale. It is set not far off the main road, so easy to find, and just a few minutes from Matlock itself. However, you would never know it is so close to the road it is so peaceful. The hotel is beautifully and sympathetically maintained, staff are very friendly and helpful. We dined in the restaurant and the food was excellent quality and value for money. We have loved it so much we have booked again to go back in September. I would highly recommend this hotel and the staff.

Stunning property in beautiful grounds. We only booked two days before and so glad we did. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and so helpful, they couldn't do enough for us. We stayed in the Oakhill Suite, huge bedroom with seating area and superb views across open countryside, you would never guess the main road and Matlock were so close. We ate in the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast, great food on both occasions and very good value. Thank you to everyone for a fabulous stay, we wish it had been longer! We'll be back!

After visiting for breakfast on good Friday we were so impressed decided to drop by the morning after with a large group of friends. The staff were so friendly and accommodating- nothing was too much trouble. The food was outstanding- beautiful black pudding. The place itself is gorgeous a real hidden gem - I almost don’t want to tell everyone else and keep the knowledge to myself because this really is a stunning place to spend some time. Cannot recommend it enough!!!

We stayed here for two nights in March to celebrate a special birthday. From the moment we walked in through the door to the moment we left nothing was to much trouble. We are on both nights in the restaurant and everyone made themselves known to us and made sure we wanted for nothing. The service, staff and hotel are amazing thank you everyone and we will be back
