We stayed in the Nellim Wilderness Hotel for 6 nights. The Hotel was a base for our daily fishing trips to the lake of Inari. We stayed in a spacious log-house with sauna. The best part of the stay was the service attitude of the hotel staff. They were ready respond promptly to all our wishes and their exceeded all our expectations what comes to service. Of course this was the low season and they had time for a special service, but that does not happen without the right attitude.

The bad review is due to the lack of customer service, the attitude both while booking, as well as upon arrival and in the restaurant (impertinent waitress, my food was cold, lack of flexibility). Our group of 14 persons did really not feel welcomed, more like a bother. We were eating dinner quite late (as we had been travelling during the day), of which the restaurant was aware. Half of us ordered around 6:45, the other (they asked if we could order without waiting for the others, as there was only one chef in the kitchen) part of our group arrived a little later and ordered at around 7:15. Kitchen closed at 8. A few of the "early group" ordered desserts, whilst others wanted to wait to see if they felt like it later. Two more wanted dessert, and at about 7:55 they asked if they also could have dessert. The answer was no, kitchen closes in 5 minutes, so you cannot order a dessert anymore. But neither the ones that first had ordered desserts, or the "late" groups starters had even come out yet... And the waitresses did not come and check if we wanted to order desserts after the main course. Neither did the waitress come and check that the food was ok after she served it (when I informed her my food had been cold when she was clearing the plates (first time to get a hold of her), I got a not so heartfelt "apology"). The actual place is (except that it was a bit of a construction site, as it seems they are expanding with new huts) beautiful, situated by a small lake, and close to Lake Inari. Cabins and saunas were modern and beautiful. But - no mosquito net in the bedroom! We happened to be there in the summer, and the day was hot, and we were unable to open the windows. Made for quite a suffocating night. In the end, I want to give a huge plus to the breakfast chef who was truly in the right place. Smiles all around, and the right attitude. You managed to save the experience a little!

Or mostly non existent. Cabins were nice but missing stuff like towels. Some design mistakes like the back door from the sauna is in direct line is sight from the entrance to the restaurant, why not build some light wall to give a bit of privacy. Service at dinner was very impolite. There were only a few customers but we waited quite a while for our food. One portion arrived cold, and when complaining only got “sorry about that“ but nothing was done. Food was ok, but nothing special. Also half the table had not been served main course when some of us tried to order dessert and were told the kitchen is closed. The following morning we got the only smile I ever saw from the staff. Breakfast was good and fresh. Breakfast was only available after 9am which I found a odd.

Travelling with a group of friends and faced incredibly poor customer service - or should we say no service at all. It started already from booking - there were a mistake in the offer and they tried to make us to pay for it. Upon the arrival the cottages were not having any towels, because they had forgotten them, and we just got a huge laundry bag to distribute them by ourselves. In the evening we had dinner in the restaurant, occupied by very few other customers. The ladies were unpolite and for example too busy to take a single photo of our group. One person got her portion cold, and they showed no interest on that. We got no desert as kitchen was closing - but they did not bother to inform about the last call for the orders. It was were obvious we were somehow unwanted guests as well-behaving domestic adult guests. The place deserved one point due to the nice and smiling service during the breakfast on the next morning. Unfortunately this didn’t raise the rating any higher, as the total experience was that negative. Definately the last time to visit any of the hotels from this chain.

Breakfast was included to the price and was really tasty! Very good salmon, excellent omelett and other provided food nice fine quality. Price of the accommodation was really high and thats why we are waiting everything works as they promised...
