Sadly we only had time for an overnight stay at this wonderful inn. The room was cosy with a very comfy bed and spotlessly clean en-suite. The staff and locals were extra friendly. The quality of the food at dinner was superb. This place is a hidden gem and we have plans to return asap.

What a lovely place to stop in for a pint, snack, lunch.... whatever! We went after a long bike ride and they never batted an eye to us turning up sweaty, muddy and fairly dishevelled. Good menu, decent service, nice beer, great location and generally a really good place to spend an afternoon. What more do we want from our...

The pub catered for our party of 8 adults and 4 children brilliantly. While it is a beautiful old country pub, the interior has been recently been modernised and all the rooms are furnished and decorated to a high standard, but in keeping with the rural location. the service from Douglas and his staff was excellent, nothing was too much...

We were here very recently for one night only. We wished it could have been longer! Didn't know what to expect as one of us was last here a very long time ago - fond memories but places do change. Lovely bedroom, very decent size, really good sized bathroom with roll top bath and separate double size shower enclosure, all...

Today we had a wonderful walk around the Roadwater area and then had Sunday Lunch at The Royal Oak. Fantastic log fire burning, warm welcome from management and staff. Superb choice of five starters, main courses and puddings. I had the crusted Hake, sublime. My husband had the Roast Beef, beautifully tender and a very generous portion. Will definitely return...

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights - delicious food and wine/beer both nights in restaurant. The room was really comfy, spotlessly clean and peaceful. The breakfast was PERFECT - one of the best I have had on a weekend away. Douglas was a super host, welcoming and relaxed, nothing was too much trouble - lovely! Thanks for a...

Wonderful drive through the valley to this lovely country pub. Many years since we had been this way. It was the Exmoor Food Fest that made us think of returning. Everything was excellent. We had a beautiful room on the first floor with an en suite bathroom complete with very large shower and a roll top bath - gorgeous. We stayed for two nights and had breakfast and dinner both days. Very good full English breakfast and the dinner was good quality, well presented food. The roaring fire in the bar was very...

My wife and I recently managed a two night stay at this lovely traditional inn. We had a beautiful and recently renovated room which had an exceptional en suite and was very well equipped. The owner and staff are welcoming and the open fire and friendly atmosphere encourage you to sit and chat in the bar. We ate on both...
