We have just spent 4 nights at this lovely old hotel celebrating our golden wedding. We found all the staff most friendly and helpful. Our room was large and very clean with a view over the cricket field. The food was of excellent quality and...More
We have stayed in the area before ,but decided to stay here for a change as we spotted a good deal.
Plenty of parking and a friendly greeting including carrying my bag to our room was a positive start to our break.

I booked this 'luxury' hotel for 2 nights with a voucher my boyfriend and I were given for Christmas. Upon entry to the hotel there was a strong smell of body odour and damp. The interior is very dated and in need of a major...More

In the immediate area, it's a short walk to the town centre by road or riverside walk, and there are three pubs. The Cheviot is a nice pub serving good food at reasonable prices. If you like 'ribs', they serve a FULL rack for about £12, I don't recommend having a starter beforehand. From the High St, there is a return walk that takes you through ancient woodland to an impressive waterfall, (under 3 miles return trip). Out and about, the Roman Wall and forts are easily accessed, and Kielder resevoir is a short drive away. There are a few 'English Heritage' type sites around also.(eg. Belsay Hall and Castle)
