The best Sunday pub lunch. Beautiful tender beef, crispy roast potatoes and lovely fresh veg, absolutely delicious. Followed by yummy chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream. Staff friendly and service brilliant, totally love this place. We didn't stay in hotel on this occasion, as it was fully booked. (We would've stayed, if we could, so just travelled to Bellingham for...

My family and I went for lunch here and were allowed a free swim in the beautifully warm pool first. We then had delicious sausage and onion sandwiches and tasty chips all served by friendly and polite staff. We were warmly welcomed, the food was great, the hotel excellent and the lovely pool was the icing on the cake.

Went with 4 friends beautiful drive there. Our table was reserved in the conservatory as it was a lovely day we opened the windows/patio door the table was set with silver service cutlery and linen napkins. The staff were all very polite and good service throughout. The food loved upto the recommendations and more! You could even swim for free...

Excellent stay, very comfortable beds in spacious rooms. Yes, a little tired, but service and faciities very good. Enjoyed a good choice of meals in the cosy dining room, with good breakfast variety too. Too wet to really explore the gardens and riverside within the hotel grounds but looks an idyllic vista for summer stays.

Nice room, lovely view, friendly staff, good food. Dog was allowed in the bar, the staff were happy to lay a table for us to have breakfast in there. My friend used the pool and wasn't impressed by the facilities or maintenance. But that was our only complaint and overall it was a very pleasant stay.

Travelling as part of a group, on initial arrival, we thought it might be Fawlty Towers in need of a upgrade. However, the room had a fabulous super King and super comfortable bed, with a great view over the cricket pitch to the river. A good size indoor pool, friendly bar service and excellent wifi were unexpected benefits. Then we...

Lovely location and close to the village for supplies. Disappointed by the condition of the apartment - cluttered with old, dark furniture, cracks in the walls and paint peeling off. Very good food in the hotel restaurant and staff very helpful.

We stopped here for the night whilst cycling the Reivers Way from Newcastle to Whitehaven. There is an area for bikes although not under cover. The hotel is in a lovely setting just outside the village. Our room was spacious with en suite bathroom. It had a nice view across the grounds (cricket pitch!) to the river. We enjoyed a...

Whilst staying in the area we decided to eat out at Riverdale. The restaurant only opened at 6.30 so we were a little early. However, we were given menus to peruse whilst sat in the bar and they took the order prior to the restaurant opening making our wait seen quick. Food was brought to the table pretty much as...
