My mother and I stayed 2 nights at Gwydir Castle in April having first visited last September for a few hours to roam the grounds and we simply had to return to stay a couple of nights. We chose the King's Chamber to have the ensuite bathroom and the room was spacious and well-appointed, with tea tray, coffee, kettle, wifi,...

Do not miss an opportunity to visit Gwydir castle. I was on an Azamara cruise and this land tour was really exceptional. Best tour of my trip. Our host and hostess (the castle owners) were delightful and most entertaining. The detailed story of the previous owners, the castle renovation, our tea and scones in the Lower Hall and the beautiful...

One should understand right from the start that this is home, authentically restored and full of heirloom artifacts. The doors creek heavy with big iron latches, the place has an ancient smell about it and the rugs are threadbare - this all adds to the experience. You are stepping into the past when you step over the thresh hold. I...

We had no idea how amazing this place would be before we arrived and I can honestly say that it is the best B&B that I have ever stayed in! Gwydir Castle is more a house than a castle but, as it is around 600 years old, it's a pretty unique place to stay. It has been brought back to...

The Gatehouse is a small 2-person self-catering unit that is just what it says it is. It's the gatehouse to the 16th century castle. It's not for those who want luxury but is perfectly comfortable and cosy, with all amenities. It has great atmosphere and is a magical place to stay for a few days or a week with access...

Staying at this charming castle was a very unique and wonderful experience. The owners opened up the castle for us to tour on our own which was a treat. The castle grounds are amazing filled with peacocks and the family dogs. There is a breakfast room where Paddy will cook and serve the most wonderful breakfast. Please keep in mind...

This is a truly unique and exceptional experience. This is an ancient manor that has a rich history. With immaculate gardens filled with peacocks and and the owner's dogs, it is like living on an estate from many generations ago. The owners and the housekeeper are extremely friendly and accommodating. They fixed us breakfast every day and gave us several...

Peter and I have just returned home after such a wonderful weekend at Gwydir Castle. We were made to feel at home and so much more than paying guest's in this amazing place. We will treasure the memories of this charismatic house and tranquil gardens, not forgetting Paddy's delicious breakfast!

I feel it's an honour to be able to stay in one of these beautifully restored, heritage listed properties. The owners (Judy & Paul) have spent 20 years lovingly restoring this property - and it's not over! My room (the Duke of Beaufort's room) is very warm, I awoke to peacocks calling, a delicious breakfast (thanks Paddy) which kept me...

Enchanting location excellent hosts. Castle is full of genuine history. An intriguing work in progress by the owners. The grounds are exceprional and secluded. For the adventurous Snowdinia and the Welsh Coast are only a matter of a few minutes away.

“they are all unique - one is self catering (the Gate House) I believe, but all are warm and spacious. I liked the Duke of Beauforts room because the peacocks would fly up to the roof opposite and sit outside the window - beautiful.”
