We stayed in family room 111 which like a previous trip advisor review in April STILL had a broken bunk bed placing any children sleeping in it at risk, curtains hanging off the rail, or shutting properly and dangling off the curtain hooks, a leaky tap, carpets that were shocking and threadbare and the family room positioned at the noisiest part of the hotel - complained and management not interested!!!! Disgusting and would not recommend!! Did complain and manager Nick not interested at all - I am sure environmental health and the local health and safety officer would have a field day visiting !!!!!!

The hotel is in a good position near the town centre and pier. It has a very large free car park with overflow onto a grass area. Our room was very large with high ceiling, it was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed with bath and shower and very hot water. As mentioned in other reviews the toilet has the weakest flush I’ve ever seen. There is no air con and the room faces the sun. It would be very hot in height of summer. Our room 112 was above an independent bar and on the main turn. It was incredibly noisey well into the early hours. Rooms on the opposite side of the corridor would be fine, and have a sea view.

We were looking for somewhere to eat with visiting family (there was about 15 of us), and I remembered a friend saying they had been to the Royal and had a good meal. Well, they did not disappoint, the service was fantastic; lovely, attentive staff who moved mountains to get us all in. The food was delicious and a good range of options. There was no delay for food, even though they had a wedding on! Quite a feat I would think! Would highly recommend.

Me and my wife stayed at the royal hotel on the 30/06/21 for 1 night i was told that parking was free for guests. I gave the girl at reception my car registration number ,few weeks later i recived a parking notice for £50 .i phoned the hotel and they said that they would get the notice cancelled. A week or so later i received a letter telling me that my appeal was unsuccessful because the registration number for my car was entered incorrectly so i would still need to pay the fine ,I did not enter the car registration the hotel did .I know mistakes happen you would think that the Hotel would have a system to put this right considering they own the carpark.

When we popped into this hotel last Tuesday we came to check if there was availability and were told that the only room they had available was a family suite. And when asked if there were any lifts we were told we wouldn’t need the lifts and unfortunately I have to say they were right because we needed a bloody crane to get into that room!. The room wasn’t even in the hotel it’s was across a car park which they called the “ courtyard” but in actuality it was right next to where they store the bottles meaning that was going to be hearing it all night long 😒. The room was up a very steep pair of step and had a very basic layout that looked years old, it was barely fit for even a young person like myself let alone a 60 odd woman with knee problems and my mum who suffers with asthma 😩. We immediately complained to reception and were sent to check out another room at another hotel and were told many people had complained before us. Will Not Be Coming Here Again!
