Very clean hotel . The staff in the restruant were very attentive and polite. Good attention to detail. The restruant was very hot, it must have been difficult to work in. The hotel room was a good size with good views over the bay. How ever the room was blisteringly hot , the windows are old and let all the noise of from the cars racing along the road outside at night. The bathroom was also tired with limescale on the shower glass. Water pressure and temp a little hit and miss. Scored high due to over all cleanliness, breakfast and staff care

Grand? Maybe it was... Room 310 SUPERIOR . stunning views granted, Room was clean, but badly in need of redec and ££ TO REPAIR & Upgrade.. decor shabby not chic...windows dirty ...wallpaper coming away, grouting mouldy, ..stains on walls & ceilings carpet stained... Room was super hot; corridor almost unbearable, door previous lock loose and not finished, wardrobe grubby. Lets talk bfast.... so 730 to 930 is the hr window nicely chintzy room about 40 tables quite closely grouped together .. some lovely views to be enjoyed with bfast....maybe .. BUT They clearly have a "system" involving highlighters and allocated tables .... which they were not going to bend to give people a good table ...unless your are either regulars perhaps, or long stay guests... when we went down early around 8-815am...so only 5 tables occupied and they offer us a tight 2 literally next to two of those occupied tables?? The restaurant is close to empty...could we sit in window?? No they are booked.... We were offered a corner one no view?? Then another on far wall.. In the 30.minutes we sat there eating bfast .. bfast was ok 5/10 we saw 3 other guests come in yes 3 no tables in window seats were used.... of the 90 plus covers and 40 45 odd tables only 2 others used... PLEASE have a look at the SYSTEM ... it's flawed.

This hotel enjoys a superb position overlooking the beach with the pier to your right and the middle of town a short stroll away. We had a room with this view (essential!) which was spacious and comfortable the only complaint being that there was no bath in the bathroom, only a shower. One lift only and that is small and old! Buffet breakfast scored 5 out of ten; really it could have been a lot better. I have mobility problems and was reassured to see a lift at the entrance to avoid the steep stairs which lead to the front door. So I had to struggle up them and the staff quite cheerfully brought up our case and my walker. Reception said that the lift has never worked sine it was installed which I find incredible! All in all the hotel is tired and needs a make over.

Paid over £100 for a superior sea view room. Walked into room and walked straight back out and asked for a refund which they offered without hesitation. Seriously never seen a room in such disrepair, I expected it to be old and tired but this was like walking into a squat! Avoid unless they remodel in the future.

After seeing the photos on the web, we were looking forward to ending our week long holiday at the Grand Atlantic Hotel however, our expectations were no way near what the hotel offered. We were given one of the rooms at the back of the hotel facing the Carpark. As soon as we got to the floor, we realised the hotel was far from what we expected. The floors creaked, the decor was dated, the room doors were unpainted and full of knocks and marks. As soon as we entered the room, the cupboard doors were reminiscent of a 1930s house. The room had a musty smell and the windows were left open, presumably to air the room out. The front door had a large hole filled in with putty and the room bore no resemblance to the website pictures. It later became clear after speaking to the staff that the hotel went into receivership 18 months ago and was bought by another company. Some of the rooms, I was told were updated however, not all. After driving for 6 hours, My wife and I were looking forward to a restful night. Faced with the room, we decided not to stay to drive another 2.5 hrs home. A terrible end to an otherwise wonderful holiday. On a positive note, the sheets were clean as was the bathroom. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Needless to say, this will be my last attempt at staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: The parking is available on site but is charged at £6 per night. Don’t be fooled by the low room...
