Just completed a 5 night stay at this hotel/pub/restaurant 6th-11th Sept a truly wonderful experience and a great bargain. The full Cumbrian breakfast was excellent. The rooms were comfortable and well furnished. Hosts Anne and Donald along with Gareth and their friendly staff provided an exceptional service. It was a pity the visit coincided with Covid 19 restrictions, but the measures implemented provided guests with a safe environment Thanks for a wonderful stay. Brian

Visited with my family (kids 7 and 10) during the Dine out to help out scheme. The Service was exceptional and the food was really good. It’s a shame that we are not local otherwise we would definitely be back!

I don't normally do reviews butI will make an exception for the Blacksmiths Arms. After coming down from hill walking on a Monday evening I thought I'd drop in to enquire about a meal. I was informed that because of the government support scheme of half price meals early in the week, they were fully booked and had been turning people away. However when they realised that I was on my own they arranged a special safe table just for me about 8 ft from the bar. The food was good value even if it had been full price ( the steak in the pie melts in the mouth) and the draught Hawkshead IPA was in superb condition. More importantly for me was that, even though they were rushed off their feet, the staff still found time for a little light conversation. I was really made to feel welcome.

The Blacksmiths Arms is a very special pub to me and my family and they never fail to impress. Even with a pandemic, they take the correct precautions and still manage to serve delicious food! The Blacksmiths Arms staff currently wear facial coverings and have hand sanitizer placed at various points in the pub. The food was divine, the portions were perfect to size and the dessert was gorgeous! The Blacksmiths Arms is a must visit when visiting Talkin Village! It is an absolutely brilliant pub and always will be!

Good job the government paid something towards our meal, very average food. Nice pub with good beer but needs some help with the at table service. Taklin is a fabulous little village worthy of a visit in itself.
