We stumbled across this place after a change of plans. We did not have great expectations as we hadn't researched the restaurant or seen any reviews. However in the end we had a wonderfull experience and lovely meal. We ordered more than we planned to! :) The Scotch egg was delicious as well as the ox cheek. The sandwich was absolutely huge, we took half of it as a snack for later in the day. Both waitresses were very helpful and accommodating to our needs as we had places to be after lunch. This is the only reason why we didn't stay longer and had a dessert. Thank you very much!

We stayed here for 5 nights. Room was lovely and recently refurbished. Shower good. Staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you. Good choice of food at night. Breakfast was fabulous and well entertained by Lyndsey every morning. A really pleasant woman. Plenty of parking available. Hotel is well placed for visiting attractions on Hadrian's wall. It is only 7 miles from Vindolanda one way and 5 miles from Birdoswald and Lanacost priory the other. Also only 18 miles to Carlisle for visiting the castle and Cathedral. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel for a stay. Anna and her team are to be congratulated for the efforts they put into the place. It felt more like being at home than in a hotel.

What a wonderful surprise in a quiet wee village.......This hotel is FABULOUS!! Excellent one way system with many hand sanitising opportunities throughout and staff very much on the ball should anyone inadvertently enter the wrong way. The quality of the furnishings, colour, style and layout are outstanding. Total co-ordination in terms of colour that is carried through to the napkins. Wonderfully friendly staff, great customer service and, oh my, what wonderful food. Anna, her partner and all the staff deserve a medal and huge recognition for this place...they only opened up in August and I can't wait to go back. Within easy driving distance of both Newcastle and Carlisle and great for visiting Hadrian's Wall and the surrounding area.

We popped in on a Saturday lunch time, very accommodating fitting us in with no reservation. The food was delicious, couldn’t fault it! All homemade and cooked to very high standard. Staff were lovely and so was the decor. We will definitely be back. I had the chicken burger and my husband had the pork sandwich with added fries! Delicious!
