We stayed a couple of nights at the Stanley Arms after reading reviews on Trip advisor. A very good move. The room we had was quite small but very pretty and practical with plenty of storage for its size! The couple running the Stanley Arms were extremely friendly and welcoming and every meal we had, including breakfasts, were exceptional, with...

Home made soup was tasty but spoilt by a toasted bit of baguette - maybe trying to disguise stale bread? Home made steak pie sounded promising and looked OK - although a slice like this is usually 2/3 the price charged. The pastry was ruined by reheating in a microwave so it was chewy and unappetising. Tired heated up veg...

I chose this place to stay at the end of a Lakes, Chester, Peaks trip, because it is convenient to Manchester airport. But it turned out a treat in itself. We were made to feel like friends which, indeed, we had become by the time we left after a three-night stay. The first evening meal was bottom of the oven...

What a lovely traditional place, we stopped while out for a drive for a Sunday dinner. The food was perfect, real home cooked and locally sourced produce. Service was very welcoming and fast. Felt in no rush to leave, stayed for a few hours sitting by the open fire. Great food for a great price. Views are lovely through the...

On a recommendation from our friends we booked a late Sunday lunch . With a lovely real fire in the lounge area we were treated to the best value homemade soup and roast pork dinner we have had for a long time. Our friends opted for the menu pies , which they confirmed were something very special. We will be...

We stayed in the Bottle Store for one night as an anniversary celebration. I was anxious as smaller venues are often unable or unwilling to cater to my dietary requirements (I am wheat and lactose intolerant) however the chef seemed eager to please, ensuring that I was fully informed, and even came out to check on us. The pub itself...

Revisited the "Stanley" after 17years! Amazed to see our hosts Adrian and Carolyn still running things. It still had the same warm welcome and charm it did when we last visited. Make the effort and travel a little way out of Macclesfield into "Macc forest" and you won't be disappointed. Excellent food and accommodation.

My wife and I were lucky enough to book a table at the Stanley Arms early evening on Christmas Eve. We were looking for a tasty meal after a hectic day at work and that's exactly what we got. Three courses were available but we only had room for two - roast peppers and a mushroom dish for starters; we...
