I have never tried to go from Terminal 5 to the Ibis but it is possible. If you do not want to take underground to terminals 1,2,3 it may not be a free bus. I take underground to terminal 1,2,3 then free bus to the hotel. It may the the same price for underground as paying for the bus from T5. Remember the Oyster Card for underground and bus tickets in the Transport for London area as you save significant money.

It's actually easier to walk across the road and use one of the local buses. The Ibis is just one stop outside the 'free' zone but you literally have to walk less than 5 minutes and you can jump on any of the local buses. Just say that you're going to the Heathrow terminal and you won't have to pay.
