A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Lydie’s love for and knowledge of the area is second to none. During the day she drove me around and showed me some of the many beauty spots. We also went for long walks. At the end of the day ... long evenings in the lounge with a local G&T and roaring fire. I can’t wait for my follow-up visit.
Quaint beautifully decorated hotel different from the usual run of the mill large hotels with all the rooms looking the same all rooms here are tastefully decorated.,large lounge all spotless , excellent healthy breakfast made by Lydie the owner only drawback the steep incline up to the hotel but using the car will be no problem ,beautiful garden to sit and relax a
I had 2 nights at the Auld Alliance, and wish I could have stayed longer. The spacious bedroom was beautifully decorated and well equipped. Evening meals and breakfasts were some of the best food I've ever had, and Lydie was friendly and welcoming. A great place to stay if you come to KIngussie.
The over all atmosphere was great, lovel old lounge with open fire and a nice wine available to purchase by the glass. A very helpful french host with a reputation as a good chef. We would have like to eat there but it has to be booked well in advance. Other eating options in this rather unimpressive town are limited and not too impressive.

The BED! = uncomfy, thin mattress which meant poor sleep. We stayed in the downstairs ensuite. 'thin' towels 'basic' decor in room with a thin curtain, chipped mug and 'travel' kettle No breakfast special on day 2 I don't like to write any negative things but with a little tweaking/investment in the room this could be fantastic.…
